Fairing bolts - Sorted - Thanks all - AstroBusa - 21-01-2007 One of the bolts in my front fender did a runner while I wasn't looking. I've been thinking about replacing the chrome ones with black ones anyway to match in with the fairings better - so figured I might as well do it now. Thing is... I have no idea where you get the little suckers from. I'm assuming I could get some originals from $uzuki at some ridiculous price - but where does one go to buy bolts in Sydney ? Sorry if I'm displaying an idiotic lack of knowledge here - just never had to do this before. The older I get, the better I was. Regards.... RobEdited by: AstroBusa at: 22/1/07 14:22 Re: Where do I get fairing bolts ? - BUSGO - 21-01-2007 The Suzuki ones are surprisingly cheap but I'm sure some Sydneysiders have some laying around the shed Rob. Rgds BUSGO "TAKE MY ADVICE" I'm not using it anyway! Re: Where do I get fairing bolts ? - Max - 21-01-2007 I tried to replace one of the three that hold the chain guard down - $8.00 from Spewzuki. The parts bloke said that Spewzuki add an incredible mark-up onto bolts that can't be obtained easily from other sources. It may be worthwhile looking at the thread Ray has going on doing a group buy for titanium bolts from pommyland. They can't play cricket, maybe they can make bolts. Rgds BUSGO "TAKE MY ADVICE" I'm not using it anyway! Re: Where do I get fairing bolts ? - RaZ80 - 23-01-2007 Where did you get them Astro? I have had the same issue come up. "Busa riders always count in three's.... 100, 200, 300" Re: Where do I get fairing bolts ? - AstroBusa - 23-01-2007 Bikebolts.com - about to order the screws set in gloss black. Glenn66 put me onto them. The $4.05 shipping cost is the same no matter where they send 'em. The older I get, the better I was. Regards.... Rob Re: Where do I get fairing bolts ? - HAYABUSA ROD - 23-01-2007 thats the place that had them on ebay for $25us so that is a good price just hope you get the right set they sent me gsxr750 set and would not help out so i ended up just polished to chrome look REGARDS ROD kangaroos1996@msn.com Re: Where do I get fairing bolts ? - BEAR - 23-01-2007 To be fair on bike dealers, a lot of bolts are not standard in that they have shoulders machined on them etc. They could make it a bit easier by reducing the number of bolts and the hayabusa isn't too bad, only three different ones for the fairings but they are slightly different from the chain guard! Shit happens eh? And if you sold 20 items of one bolt a year wouldn't you have a good mark up to cover stock etc. Not defending Suzuki but you have to be reasonable.... Oh f*** it, they are arseholes at times! Re: Where do I get fairing bolts ? - bad boy busa - 23-01-2007 Try Valter Moto.....I priced them a while ago but cant fugen remember for the life of me how much they were... Re: Where do I get fairing bolts ? - GO 300 - 25-01-2007 I called into Peter Stevens in Ringwood (Vic) and they offered me chrome non-originals that substitute perfectly. $2 each. Look identicle but they have a smaller allen key opening - but I replaced 2 (as I had lost one of the top units near the bars) and no problem. 2Bob Re: Where do I get fairing bolts ? - highwaybruiser - 25-01-2007 If you're still looking, try Able-Fix Fasteners at Smeaton Grange [not sure if they have other locations], or Coventry Fasteners [not Coventry Auto Parts]. There's one at Minto- dunno where the other stores are. There used to be a fastener place at Arncliffe- I think it's Arncliffe Rd., but not sure. If you're heading down Wollongong Rd from Bexley, you go under the railway bridge then hook left towards Tempe- they were on the right just near the bend. Might still be there- might not. It's a while since I've been down that neck of the woods. I'm sure there was another place either on Bonds Rd or Boundary Rd at Peakhurst but again, it's been a while. Whether or not these places can match fairing bolts, I'm not sure, but if you're near them they'd be worth a try. Wazza. I've stared death in the face....he turned and walked away. |
