Value of binned bike. - Timj - 08-01-2007 Ok, so you have all probably read my post regards my bike going for a slide. I have also said what the bike shop said the damage total is, but thats the 'insurance' quote. My question is what 'could' I get for a 2006 K5 with all plastics munted and has approx 11600km + or - a few hundred, bike not here to check. Have been told by dealership that frame is NOT damaged nor the forks. ALL plastics scratched etc but really nose cone and right side panel needed to get on the road. When they quoted for insurance they included everything down to the last plastic screw with all brand new parts etc. So, knowing I'm in WA what do you 'think' I could get for her as is ? Photos available upon request. Cheers Tim. Re: Value of binned bike. - Fat Busa Racing 1347 - 08-01-2007 If you don't want to fix her up, then part the bike out. you will get more for it apart than as a wreck. It'll just take a bit longer to get some of your money back. Are they going to right it off or There are a lot kit car guys that'll take that Bad Ass Busa Donk off your hands and give you some good coin for it Just my 2 cents worth...... but if you want to sell the whole bike, I'm sure there will be a few people that will put there hand up Regards Richard You're the guy that'll be sneaking out of your bedroom at three o'clock in the morning to look at your bike. Paul Teutul,Sr. American Chopper Re: Value of binned bike. - Timj - 08-01-2007 Just looking at options. Hammering stuff with the insurer who is trying to wrangle their obligation but I can see it is going to get messy. If they are not going to pay for the damage I personally have a hard time trying to face the prospect of a DIY job as I aint a very mehcanically minded person.. So just want to see what I could hope to get for it as it stands complete and then pay the difference to step onto a new '07 model is all. Thankfully the bike is not financed so I do not have that hanging over my head. Cheers Tim Re: Value of binned bike. - Blackzook - 09-01-2007 Tim, I'll put that letter together for you in the next day or so could you reply vai email with all the relevent details, Name of insurer, policy number, claim number, police accident notification number, exact accident details, rider details etc and I'll finish it off. Or on second thought only give me the details you are comfortable with and I'll leave space for you to enter the rest. Also if the bike is a write off and they offer you a buy out price let me know as I might be interested in the wreck. Bruce N2O no laughing matter f*** nos I've got Velocity Re: Value of binned bike. - Timj - 13-01-2007 Ok well, best wreck price has been $8200. So it looks like this maybbe the way to go. Unfortunatly once all this goes through I will be stepping over to the dark side NO NO NO NO! I mean the 2007 Black Hayabusa. Have mulled the idea of the M109 over a fair bit, even took a ZX14 for a ride but my heart belongs to the Busa so thats that. Other choice is to go with same colour 2006 model for a $900 saving but I reckon the extra $$'s to be on the 07 model is the go.. Anyway, thats where I am at. Word of warning to any peeps with WQBE insurance for their pride and joy, MAKE SURE you know what and WHO is covered before letting anyone throw a leg over your prode and joy. I have been extreamly fortunate to have a great mate that has stepped up to the plate, mucho respecto to Mick. Cheers Edited by: Timj at: 13/1/07 12:37 Re: Value of binned bike. - BEAR - 13-01-2007 Being of slight mech aptitude, I would help you strip the bike if that's the way you want to go. Not sure I could stump up for a buy out, but I will be buying a motor one day for a car. Give me a call on 0438 798 980 and maybe I can come around and see what can be done eh? Cheers Re: Value of binned bike. - BUSGO - 13-01-2007 Tim, My understanding of what you are saying is that, you were insured with WQBE and they won't cover the crash because you weren't the rider. Therefore you are going to sell the bike as a wreck and your mate who was riding it at the time is going to cover the difference to get you back on the road. If I am correct, then it is certainly worthwhile checking the fine print on your policy - mine has the same condition, it is only insured if I am the rider or a mechanic doing a test ride at time of service. I am with Arista "over 40". You and Mick must really regret that swapover. Don't forget to get your refund on rego and insurance and then get your comprehensive policy switched to your new bike when you get mobile. Good luck. I prefer the new Red with black frame on the 07 model. The black is sweet though. Rgds BUSGO "TAKE MY ADVICE" I'm not using it anyway! Re: Value of binned bike. - Timj - 13-01-2007 Bear, I will not be wrecking the bke myself. The price above is what I can get locally from a wrecker. It has NOT been classified as a writeoff and perhaps it would make a good repair to someone, all it 'really' needs are full plastics, yoshi pipes are rooted so standards an option (have em here) and a few other bits and pieces. The thing is it's only 8 months old and even if the insurance waas going to fix her up then I would be trading anyway. Believe it or not but doing what I am going to do will be cheaper than restoring her to full as new condition which is what she was like anyway. But i someone had time on their hands they could have a nice enough bike for little dollars I guess. I dunno, to say this has been a very tough 2 weeks would be an understatement and it's not going to get much easier. I have the quote for repairs here in my hand OUCH! Bugso, certinly do regret everything that happened and at the end of the day I was more woried about Mick than the bike at the time. He is fine, turns out to have a few cracked ribs too.At the end of the day we both though each other insud to ride each ike an we weren't. My thought on comprehensive insurance has certainly been changed. Life goeson, Micks alive, his missus is just happy that he's ok and at he end of the day it will work out. I will hold off making a definate decision on the colour of the new bike until I see one of each, shop will have them in Tuesday but the all black looks nice on the PC screen. Cheers Tim Re: Value of binned bike. - BEAR - 14-01-2007 Tim, send me an email on efreo1@gmail.com and we can have a look. I've just paid for a trip so not flush but if it's all worthwhile, what the hell. I take you have a comprehansive list of parts to replace? cheers Ok - Timj - 14-01-2007 Email sent mate. ... - Throwdown - 15-01-2007 Mate, the whole situation has been sad. Get the 06 at a $900 saving, and spend that on a hooker to sweeten the memory of the whole debacle....(or an '07 and your mate springs for the $900 hooker). Either way get laid by a stranger.( well, hellllo!) Re: ...TimJ - BEAR - 15-01-2007 Mate your number is withheld. I've replied to your email and gave a few other numbers. Try again tomorrow eh? Cheers Ian Black's the GO - Fat Busa Racing 1347 - 15-01-2007 here is an 07 that we did before the show... I think they will sell like hot cakes Regards Richard You're the guy that'll be sneaking out of your bedroom at three o'clock in the morning to look at your bike. Paul Teutul,Sr. American Chopper Re: Black's the GO - Timj - 15-01-2007 Bear no worries mate, replied to your email of tonight. Going to decide on colour once I see them in the flesh.
