leather tank cover - pan - 22-11-2005

Go these off eBay today and tried to fit them. Bag on back is great (huge). Leather tank cover... still fiddling with it to get it right...

Those that have one, Simmo, 01Busa, etc... are there just the front and back ties, or is there meant to be one on the side as well? I can see a mark of some sort onthe side, but it didn't come with any other straps.

Also, what do you do if it rains? Do you need to take the leather off before or after it gets wet at all?

Re: leather tank cover - Max - 22-11-2005

They're Bagsters mate, Great carrying and look cool too. They are not bothered by rain or detergent, I have had Bagsters for years, wash them with detergent, only take them off once a year or so to clean underneath so the paint doesn't get scratched.

Re: leather tank cover - Xhiler8r - 22-11-2005

Pan see the little black thing on the side there should be a little piece of strapping and a little bent hook that just clips to the bottom of your tank the bag looks like a bagster same as what i have but in a different colour of course did you get the tank bag with it also if you did then inside the tankbag there is a raincoat for the tankbag if it rains dont panic just remove it when ya get home and let it dryout properly and if ya gonna keep it on always just keep an eye out if any grime gets under there and starts to scuff the paint Regards Bill

BBQ yep side ones missing, one each side tank, small straps that clip under the tank.

Looks like the Hayabusa name is missing to, check inside the bag

Re: leather tank cover - Haemaglobin - 22-11-2005

apparently Bagsters are guaranteed for life. I was given one exactly the same as yours and mine is missing a side latch also. Canberra Motorcycle Center got straight onto it and have ordered a whole heap of the little things in and have called me to come pick one up - free of charge.

Nice set of bags BBQ.
Can you take half my gear to Jindy for me?
You won't need all that space for 1 weekend mate.

Nice set up Pan.

If anyone needs to borrow some luggage for the trip let me know, I have a magnetic Dri-rider tank bag, and a Gearsack pillion bag which is big enough to hold a helmet and more.

Re: leather tank cover - WARD P - 22-11-2005

My tank bag's gettin on for 5 yrs old and has faded terribly.

What's the best way to tart it up? Paint or polish?

it's the copper colour, on the bag it looks more like orange.
Has anyone repainted theirs? and with what?

apart from that it's still in perfect nick.

What do you guys suggest?

WARD

Re: leather tank cover - pan - 22-11-2005

I only bought what you see. I was outbid on the bag in the last minute... I'm looking into the bag (new) through Bagster, but want to check out how large it is. I already have a magnetic tank bag which still sticks okay through the leather, so may not get the bag if it's not too big.

Haemaglobin, any chance you can get me details so I can contact that mob?

THanks for the pics Simmo.

Pan

We need a e-bay bid thread here so we don't push the price up between us members on the same items up for grabs

Re: leather tank cover - rocket rod 7777 - 23-11-2005

Just a couple of things on your bagster Pan.You can get the side straps and clips for it no probs.I had one on my old viffer and it too broke a side strap(common prob i think). You will have to get the strap resown to the cover,i got mine done at a leather repairers.I think they are still distribited by mcleod accessories down here in melb.I personally would take the bra off more than once a year and clean under it as i have heard of stories of water sitting under the bra and rusting the tank.
I would take it off and clean under it everytime i washed the bike. The bag that comes with it is expandable,so you can have it as small or large as you like. The really great thing is the bag fits to the bra like a glove and will never ever move.
Phuck its the phantom!

Re: leather tank cover - jessie928 - 23-11-2005

Pan,

its not leather brother, its vinyl

Keeping it in good nick means giving it some vinyl food every now and then, DONT use armourall!

Ok, where do we get these e-bay tips from?

Also, I'm missing my side clip aswell, can we get them in sydney? i ordered my bagster direct from France as it was custom made to 1 color

Rocket,
I bet you have to watch where you park that bike.

Red
Leather
Whole Sheepskin

Surely you must have a pic of a kiwi dry humping it ?????

Yeah, I know they finish early and can't write, but that's not a lanolin rub in that they leave either.

Re: leather tank cover and kiwi magnet - pan - 23-11-2005

Bill, PM me your secret...
Is it about putting in your highest bid and letting the eBay thing bid for you?

Jes, what do you maintain the vinyl with?
