1st year on a BUSA - BUSGO - 20-11-2005

I bought my 99 Busa 1 year ago today and it has been a great year.
So far I have racked up 21,000 ks and during that time I have had 3 rear tyres and 1 front plus a new battery, front pads and a headlight globe. I'll be due for a chain after Jindy I think.
Still no tickets or lost points, so you can ride em fast and stay out of trouble with the law if you do it carefully.

After 35 years of riding, "Best bike I've ever had", as they say.

Re: 1st year on a BUSA - pan - 20-11-2005

Busgo, I got mine a month before you I think. I figure I've done about 12,000kms. One rear tyre, one set of front and rear brakes, new chain and lots of shiny bits...

Best bike I've ever had, but then again the only other bike I've had was a 1982 Honda VT500.

Must say that I've still not come across a bike I would rather own (except Leonard's Busa!!!)

Lotsa K's there Shane.
I was trying to make the point on the amount of maintenance over a 1 year period but I forgot to include the 3 oil changes and 1 more to come this week.

Pan, for you it IS a pissing contest because I don't use my bike for travelling to work.
You've gotta spend less time pollishing and more time riding my boy.

Tell me about it. Bike was bought new so full service every 6k to keep waranty and not to mention looking after the bike.. now that hurts the pocket but hey, what else is money for.

Damn thing is a major money pit if you are stupid enough to use it as a commuter but I just can't bring myself to start the car except for shopping now

Take your point Busgo. It's not just that I polish and don't ride enough, it's also that I live too close to everything. I ride 6/7 days, but work is 7 minutes, friends are around the corner, family is nearby... bloody Marrickville!

Maybe I need to move in order to do more kms...? Let me know what a house costs up your way, would ya?

Re: 1st year on a BUSA - WARD P - 21-11-2005

Whaddaya mean maintenance?

In the past year I've spent nuthin' on tyres, nuthin on oil, and less than $10 on fuel.

It's easy, just park it in the back of the shed and let the dust pile up on it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!-it gives the spiders and starlings somewhere to live.

breaks my heart.

still, she's gettin new rubber, new battery, new oil and filters, and maybe even a wash before Dec.2

countin' down the days.

cheers,

WARD

Gotta use it... - Throwdown - 22-11-2005

I usually use mine on a daily basis, but now I've got used to Aussie weather, 13C is now cold to me (used to ride in 0C f), and the car has been looking more attractive especially in the rain.

Only recently used the busa after about six weeks, and the bloody thing wouldn't start. Couldn't be bother to wheel it outside (it lives in the basement), and eventually managed to get it started on full throttle.

Black smoke everywhere.

Now this might be obvious to some, but don't start your bike indoors. That's free advice.

48,000km last year. 8 oil changes. third rear on now, with second front. That front is running as a slick, but they're no wires hanging out of it yet, so it's good. One set of spark plugs. Cleaned and re-oiled the air filter. On second chain in 90,000km.

Best bike I've ever own. Mind, other two where Suzuki GP 100 and Ducati ST2 (yuck!).

Pan,
Don't get a shock mate but a new 4 bedder with double garage and tidy 1/4 acre block will only set you back about $300k.
(Unless you want to live right near a beach, then you can triple or even more your payment)
40 minutes from the Putty Rd, Thunderbolt's way, Bulladelah Mnt, Nelson Bay or Central Coast and 20 minutes from Newcastle city and beaches. 1.5 hrs to Pennant Hills.
