Suzuki Hayabusa vs Triumph Rocket 111 - 1hotBUSA - 07-08-2005 As you all may be aware, this morning we had a ride before our Sydney Spannering Session. Turned out to be an eventful day. In the group we had Simmo, Gary, Mark, and myself. I was riding #2 as Simmo was navaguessing his way around the state of NSW. We turn onto the Putty at Colo and head towards Windsor when after a couple of K's Simmo the navaguesser decides that lets all turn left into a side road right NOW. So we have 4 bikes, all with their noses pinned to the ground, squirming merrily away. Now in this situation the Busa brakes are not the best but the Triumph Rocket brakes, trying to haul up 400kg of prime pommy engineering (although it's getting lighter from the oil pissing out of it) are even more woeful. Enter the Hotbus, almost at a standstill and about to turn into aforementioned road when BLAM!!! I feel a tap on my elbow and my bloody LH mirror just %$#^ dissapears. Prime pommy piece of engineering goes flying past Hayabusa on the left hand side, clipping the mirror or so i thought. I got off the bike, pulled what was left of the mirror (ie the stalk) back into position ($%^# knows why) and throw the remains into the bushes. Clearly PPP of E is not able to outbrake a Hayabusa with a desperate but determined rider on board. When we got to Simmos place we all decided to survey the damage. There is a scrape and knock marks to the LH fairing. I considered that part a write off so told Mark I would have to claim. Up until that time the main banter was about the mirror and how 1 mirror was the new black. I tell you, you dont know something's there or useful until it's bloody missing though and you can see the road through something that used to remind me with confidence how attractive I was to the other sex. At least I've got 1 left, unless he decides to smash that off too. Damage to the Rocket is confined to 1 engine crash bar being bent back, just above the bracket where the training wheels bolt on Luckily nobody was injured, although a few cm to the right and I would be going to Hospital with broken limbs. OK Boys, all in good jest, pile on in. I know Simmo has some funny comments, and Pan has just ridden all the way back to Marrickville, through Customs and Quarantine (they found 4kg of grass on him too, so watch this space) thinking up mirror jokes. Pictures are on their way, need to reformat and post before this kicks off. Bill of Damage. LH Fairing LH Mirror Fully floating rotors Brembo Calipers Brembo master cylinder Turbocharger.............the list goes on. I'm really worried about taking it from behind from a pommy bike. I reckon you should have a heavy traffic license to ride one of those things. And I now know the ultimate answer to the ultimate question, in fact I can imagine Eddie Maguire asking it now........"How many Mirrors does it take to stop a Triumph Rocket" Answer: One 2x 2x Regards Graham 1hotBUSA Strike a blow for freedom...Smash a speed camera!!!Edited by: 1hotBUSA at: 7/8/05 7:17 pm Re: Suzuki Hayabusa vs Triumph Rocket 111 - 1hotBUSA - 07-08-2005 Pictures as promised. The stripper revealed. Simmo was turned on by having a real live stripper at his place, pulled up a chair and begged for a lapdance. Mirrorless Hayabusa. Absolutely phased me when riding, as it's reflective properties were gooooone!!!! 7yrs bad luck to Loverustler. That is Suzuki Red on a Triumph Rocket We come to a compromise. I get the Triumph, the remains of the busa, and a gay pair of sungalsses in exchange for a mirror. I'm stoked. Pan stashes the 4kg of grass, then cleans up the rear tyre. Pan likes his tyres to be very clean. After this shot he was seen scrubbing it with a toothbrush and telling us about the multitude of ways you can cook shrimp. Simmo was unable to provide Jelly Wrestling. All were dissapointed!!!!!! Regards Graham 1hotBUSA Strike a blow for freedom...Smash a speed camera!!! Re: Suzuki Hayabusa vs Triumph Rocket 111 - 1hotBUSA - 07-08-2005 OK let her rip boys. Regards Graham 1hotBUSA Strike a blow for freedom...Smash a speed camera!!! Re: Suzuki Hayabusa vs Triumph Rocket 111 - rev 01 - 07-08-2005 Those trumpy discs look a bit on the small side for a bike that weighs so much, maybe braided's & sintered pads might help? Nearly got rear ended myself by another busa that couldn't stop. Saw him coming in my mirrors & moved sideways for a near miss k He had the usual shitty stock brake set up but wasn't aware of his bike's capabilities until put to the test, which it failed miserably Glad no one got hit Re: Suzuki Hayabusa vs Triumph Rocket 111 - 1hotBUSA - 07-08-2005 Apparently he locked the front!!!! But you're right Rev, the brakes on them are pretty @#%$. Regards Graham 1hotBUSA Strike a blow for freedom...Smash a speed camera!!! Re: Suzuki Hayabusa vs Triumph Rocket 111 - simmo - 07-08-2005 Sorry Graham the tears are running down my face as i read this. But it was still a top day. Many thanks for your help today. Look under Riding i have already started dude sorry. Cheers Robert Nice stripping Pan - Blackkat - 07-08-2005 Hey Pan, How did the polishing turn out? Hope you found nice smooth wheel underneath, makes it easier to polish. Leonard. Is this the way you guys go for a ride? Dont worry about the tintops watch out for the trumpy... Re: Nice stripping Pan - BUSGO - 07-08-2005 Those Trumpy brakes work great on a 200kg bike but not on a 400kg model. They are no match for Simmo's braided lines and late decisions either. Lesson 1, don't follow Simmo to or from Sackville, he can't keep his front wheel on the ground long enough to take that corner without doing a semi stoppy. Rgds BUSGO Re: Nice stripping Pan - pan - 07-08-2005 Hi Leonard. Wheel looks great. We only did the rear. Graham has pictures of it, somewhere. I came home and started the front wheel, in the dark... (oops). "sometimes, crime does pay" Edited by: pan at: 8/8/05 8:02 pm Re: Nice stripping Pan - simmo - 07-08-2005 Yeah Yeah its all go fun until some one looses a mirror lighten up Guys could of been a hell of a lot worse, it could have been my mirror must admit looking at the size of the brakes later, i think he may need an anchor as well to pull that beast up over 400 kgs with rider nice looking bike but. Cheers Robert Re: Nice stripping Pan - Beestroyer - 08-08-2005 What took out the mirror? The triumph mirror? or the bar end? I'm amazed at how it took out the inside and left the top halk like that! Re: Nice stripping Pan - rocket rod 7777 - 08-08-2005 Good to see they names a bike after me, even if it is only a lard arsed triumph. Phuck its the phantom! Re: Nice stripping Pan - 1hotBUSA - 08-08-2005 Yeah Rocket, do you break mirrors too Regards Graham 1hotBUSA Strike a blow for freedom...Smash a speed camera!!! Re: Nice stripping Pan - 1hotBUSA - 08-08-2005 Beestroyer, The mirror would have been taken out by the bar end. The engine crash bar went along the side of my fairing. I saw something today that has me really worried. The NRMA is having real problems with it's crash repair service, shipping cars by the truckload interstate to get them repaired. If they think that they are going to do that with MY motorcycle they have another thought coming. I am not letting some leper on UN aid, chained to a dead elephant in Botswana repair my bike for quids. Regards Graham 1hotBUSA Strike a blow for freedom...Smash a speed camera!!! |
