busa parking - BUSAnthony - 11-12-2006
further to me bike falling off its side stand and costing a heap to fix and yes i will be doing the side stand mod whenever it get it back...
i thought i might remind everone to be carefull when parking their bike so save a lot of heartache not having a big bore bike while the bus is being repaired.
my best friends cbr600 2005 dropped yesturday with the hot weather, the tar/ asphelt melted under his side stand sinking it into the footpath untill the big bang one hour after he parked it... so just another expensive experiance to learn from.
anyone else had this happen?

Fingers crossed, I've never had it happen but I have always had the habit of making sure it was in 1st before I put the sidestand down as I haven't bothered with the mod and bieng extra careful where I park it - but even if it did fall I would always jump under it

You can buy a little tray to put under stand just a little round dish that you can put under your rear seat but i dont think we will need one in melbourne for anouther50 years THE WARRIOR

4 years - 3 drops - some mods & ridden nearly every single day - raining or not.
Could it be Rev your simply saying that when you turn off the engine you should know to leave it in First gear & watch where your stand goes down.... right?? "Busa riders always count in three's.... 100, 200, 300"

Holger i dont think they have advertised the temp to be in the high 30s-to 40 mid 20s i dont think the bus will sink as long as you dont park the bike in the sand at the beach THE WARRIOR

Gotta say I think this mod is unecessary. Put bike in first, and be careful where it's parked.
Every biker should know about the surface they are riding on, so why don't they know about the surface they are parking on. It's all a part of biking - more than just getting on it and twisting the throttle.
Everyone goes on about tyre pressures, suspension settings, weight savings etc...well, road surface is apart of the BS convsersation you have down the pub over a beer.
If you do the mod, remember the side stand does more than hold the bike up, so watch that switch. Stay upright, fellas, even when you're nowhere near the bike.

Bruce has a different side stand mod its call a helmet & don't touch the F'n bike

If you look up ebay you can get a plastic shoe type thing that is listed as - motorcycle side stand support mud bug.
They are a slide on piece about 6 inches long that fits on sidestand and are quite handy on soft surfaces or melting tar. From memory available in black ,green or orange.
The seller is in W.A. but service is quite good after the usual ebay transaction functions. I got one within 7 days.
Cost is only $5.50 plus $6.00 for postage.

"mud bug" its the best $8 I ever spent(and a hell of a lot better than the lump of wood they hand out at the GP)

Off to get a "mud-bug", chuck it in the rear under seat,you never know when you may need one.
