Chrome Button Caps - gmb - 08-12-2016

Hi All
I am trying to fit bar risers, because the body is getting older. I am having problems in removing the chrome caps on top of the bolts. Can anyone explain to me how to remove them.
Thanks Glen

If you are talking the 4 bolts that hold the handle bar bracket on top of triple then there are no caps.

Its a fluted bolt whcih means a nut and thread one side and pin head with fluted grooves down the side on the other (top side). I found then a real bitch to try to undo on my 99. In the end I wedged in a small screwdriver between bracket and bolt head and used the drive on impact mode to loosen nut.

Thanks Batfink That worked well

The 4 bolts do have chrome caps just stick a knife blade or small flat blade screw driver under the edge of it to lever them up & out
Then use the correct allen key to hold the head while you undo the nut below this helps to do them up again

Thanks I did have a closer look after removing one. A fine blade worked for me.
Cheers Glen
