I had to get used to the in-line 4 forward facing exhaust when I first rode the busa. It seems to bounce noise off the front radiator then up through the neck of the bike making it seem very loud and "clunky" compared to other configurations I have ridden... It also has heat/noise dampening shield on the fairing so you have all that exhaust and top end noise thats right below your head.
None of my bike ever had any issues with them and I can even hear it on the 13 form new.. so it's gotta be me not the bike LOL

I fixed it by getting a louder exhaust

How many kms iano?
I'm guessing you need to ignore your mechanic... does he/she do lots of Busas?
Mine have always felt the way you describe, but I just turn up the fast idle a touch if it bothers me.
