Anybody work oil and gas - kozzo - 10-06-2015 Close to a job there ..few questions..know there a few here RE: Anybody work oil and gas - Zoro - 10-06-2015 Hi Kozzo, there's a couple of us in here. What is it you want know? Who's the job with? Onshore or offshore O&G? Not really a good time to be getting in due to the low bbl price at the moment. RE: Anybody work oil and gas - kozzo - 10-06-2015 Thanks for the quick reply..first of all..Air drilling associates.. RE: Anybody work oil and gas - Zoro - 10-06-2015 Never heard of them TBH. What job will you be performing? RE: Anybody work oil and gas - Batfink - 10-06-2015 sorry to interrupt, but do you want the double up post removed kozzo? Remove Tony..thanks mate They handle drilling solutions around the world...you cant drill..they come in..3 solutions..1 is they pump a foan in too loosen the rock..we run maintain compressors..and work with oil gas companies RE: Anybody work oil and gas - Zoro - 10-06-2015 Yep, under/over balanced drilling methods. Should be a good gig if you are just keeping the compressors online. Was hoping you weren't being dragged into rousty/ roughnecking...was going to try my best to talk you out of it. As long as they have plenty of holes to drill it should be good. RE: Anybody work oil and gas - jamdonut - 10-06-2015 So its hard to get a job in the industry, especially with no experience? Who you know not what you know..honest..bit of a mafia there RE: Anybody work oil and gas - Zoro - 10-06-2015 At the end of the day its just a job where you have to put up with a large majority of knobheads. If you're enjoying what youre doing, stick with it. I can't speak for onshore but offshore O&G seems to attract a lot of self proclaimed hero's with ego's to match. I'm soo glad to be getting out. Funnily enough just today in tele conf with a bunch of engineers that dont know what they want, I mentioned to my boss "can't wait till I dont have to deal with these clowns anymore".. Leaving building trade tired of not getting paid RE: Anybody work oil and gas - Zoro - 10-06-2015 Be prepared to fill a JHA and a permit for everything you do, every task. Your day will be consumed by safety paperwork designed to fullfil the requirements of the insurance company. Sold to you under the banner of "Safety". Don't be fooled its a dangerous game but using common sense you should be fine. RE: Anybody work oil and gas - kozzo - 11-06-2015 Thanks Zoro RE: Anybody work oil and gas - captainrob - 12-06-2015 I work offshore on the ships, and agree with Zoro. Its a difficult industry because of knob heads - but the work is interesting. From my side its in a bit of a downslide at the moment. I had to drop down a notch because 457 visa Norwegians took my job, but I'm on another ship now with all Oz and its going OK. But its hard not to think that 457 visa people will dominate the industry in a few years? RE: Anybody work oil and gas - kozzo - 12-06-2015 Thanks captainrob..love your threads |
