what to buy - straw man - 18-01-2015 So as much as I'd love a gen 2 given that I haven't ridden a busa for a few yrs I'm thinking there would still plenty of fun to still be had with gen 1 , I have found 99 black/ silver with 40 ... Ks or 04 purple/black with 80... Ks , both have asking price $6000 both look the goods , which sounds the better buy .I haven't asked about service history ,is that something to worry about ? Any thoughts appreciated . RE: what to buy - Volvi - 19-01-2015 History is important and best to know if you can get it. But for 6k watcha want your already getting heaps for that little dosh. But if it was me and myself Id be looking at the red/black '99 on bikesales low k's and a real original. Think it was going for 8.5 and a dealer border Vic/NSW if my memory serves me correctly. Good luck. RE: what to buy - straw man - 19-01-2015 (19-01-2015, 06:51am)Volvi Wrote: History is important and best to know if you can get it. Thanks , I've ended up putting deposit on the 99' at triumph ducati gold coast at $5500 Any chance anyone lives around there to take it for a test ride for me ? RE: what to buy - RaZ - 19-01-2015 Can't test ride it - but I bought a 99 in the last month and I can list all of the things I have had to do and have found \ things for you to check ;) Fuel pump filters - age of bike and stuff - found mine were clogged up - turf them out and put an inline fuel filter (Split pump, remove filters and rebuild pump, get fuel hose and replace the one going to the fuel pump and put an inline fuel filter (Use an L shape flow one!) Had to replace a lot of the O-Rings in the fuel rail and some grommets on a few injectors Disc's all round Head steam bearings and wheel bearings air filter and a damn good tune up Cam chain replacement Oil sump plug stripped so replace with a new oil pan! Rec\Reg known to go \ or melt the plugs due to Suzuki just crimping the wires and no solder! (Easy fix to replace the plug BTW - 5 bucks at Jaycar for the very SAME plug! Just solder the wires on to the blades and it wont melt again.) Also have to remember here in VIC they take photos now of the bikes when a roady is done. So you need stock pipes, stock undertail, stock blinkers etc etc. I have a full stock system if you need a loan of one ;) RE: what to buy - straw man - 19-01-2015 [quote='RaZ' pid='308992' dateline='1421633531'] Can't test ride it - but I bought a 99 in the last month and I can list all of the things I have had to do and have found \ things for you to check ;) Fuel pump filters - age of bike and stuff - found mine were clogged up - turf them out and put an inline fuel filter (Split pump, remove filters and rebuild pump, get fuel hose and replace the one going to the fuel pump and put an inline fuel filter (Use an L shape flow one!)
