RE: Feb 2014 TAS north-east ride DAY 2 - Ward P - 18-12-2013

Drove that area last January in the car, was wishing I was on a bike the whole time. Looks excellent. After that we'll peel off and do the west coast before making our way down towards Hobart over the next couple of days. Will be after heaps of local knowledge of best roads when we are over there. Biker

Route has changed due to rod irks and getting as many good curves as possible...

thats great Wayne... I will post up a teaser of vid clips of some one the roads... Also there are road works and gravel roads for a few K's but no real hassle getting over it.

a new route will be up soon to take advantage of more corners and a bit of sight seeing too

Tasmanian version of repairs..wait till school holidays, rip up a few ks of bitumen, insert gravel then leave for couple of months before adding thin layer of bitumen that turns to pot holed mess in a fortnight. Idiot2

It Isn,t just Tasmania that suffers from those style road works nsw is just as bad if not worse

RE: Feb 2014 TAS north-east ride DAY 2 - Batfink - 15-01-2014

Yeah gravel.... You know that loose stuff on the ground that normally makes your tyres wobbly, your sphincter tighten and the glad wrap fall of your front guards lol

if u hate music to clips just turn down sound LOL

RE: Feb 2014 TAS north-east ride DAY 2 - mozzie26 - 16-01-2014

With the temperature yesterday the bitumen was melting which made it a bit greasy on corners but made for some good wheel spin and power slides coming out of corners.
One bit of road near Cethana (C136) had fine gravel layed down for about 5kms on the side of the road I was traveling on (may have been for trucks to get traction on the hot bitumen). This fine gravel was sticking to my hot tires and going everywhere. I spent most the time riding on the wrong side of the road when possible trying to avoid it.

The course sand is to help when roads are covered in ice (about 9 months of the year) and we will all be riding that area on day 1... in fact a small catch-up stop is scheduled for Cethana dam

It wasn't sand, it was like 5mm blue metal. Like riding on marbles! ScaryWtf

RE: Feb 2014 TAS north-east ride DAY 2 - Batfink - 16-01-2014

then maybe left over from past splatter covering... very popular in Tassie

or the hillbilly version of sand LOL
