All Cat Owners Beware - Xhiler8r - 19-12-2005 Ok guys this is a heads up on what not to do with your cat My wife by accident gave our cats some flea control this afternoon well one of them has reacted badly and hopefully we have washed the other 2 well enough to stop it DO NOT ever use a flea control liquid it contains a poison called PERMETHRIN this is deadly to cats it attacks their brain and sends them into convultions the cure is 24hr care in hospital under sedation and on a respirator Some of you know what my wife and I have been through this year and this cat that is hers is not looking good it has been the only thing that has kept her sane while I was at work at the moment she is devistated that she might have killed her cat so please be carefull when using flea treatment people because I am looking at around a $1000 per 24hr period to get the cat out of hospital which might be 2-5 days Regards Bill "Secret Mod Group Is Kicking Butt" I Am Not Racist I Hate Everyone Equally Re: All Cat Owners Beware - Xhiler8r - 20-12-2005 For those that do care I want to let you know that our cat passed away just after lunch today from a massive heart attack the poison was just to much for her R.I.P. Tiger Regards Bill "Secret Mod Group Is Kicking Butt" I Am Not Racist I Hate Everyone Equally Re: All Cat Owners Beware - pan - 20-12-2005 That is very sad news Bill. My thoughts are with you. Are you going to get a Tiger #2? Re: All Cat Owners Beware - Djpete - 20-12-2005 sorry to hear Bill. We get VERY attached to our pets and not a nice way to go. Did the cat lick itself or something? If it was flea powder it should have been ok. I don't get it? Cheers, Pete Z Web World Mobile Dj, Web Design, Photography, Bullshit Artist! Re: All Cat Owners Beware - Xhiler8r - 20-12-2005 na Pete it was the liquid stuff you put on the back of their necks it actually absorbs through their skin and there is no way of stopping it the cat just has to be sedated and on an IV drip and hope for the best well that didnt work on ours unfortunately Regards Bill "Secret Mod Group Is Kicking Butt" I Am Not Racist I Hate Everyone Equally Re: All Cat Owners Beware - Djpete - 20-12-2005 ive used that on Norman twice with no side effects. I wonder what went wrong for the poor little bugger... Cheers, Pete Z Web World Mobile Dj, Web Design, Photography, Bullshit Artist! Re: All Cat Owners Beware - Xhiler8r - 20-12-2005 maybe you used the right one that didnt had the dredded poison in it oh and if it ever happens be ready for big bills and a possibly a bad outcome once the signs are there it is usually 2 late from application to dead in 24hrs on a bloody healthy lil cat I havent even started adding the costs of this mistake up yet but I know it aint gonna be pretty Oh also Pete check out you home contents insurance you could be able to throw animal insurance into it I just found out that we actually had it but only covers the first $500 which is better than nothing I guess Regards Bill "Secret Mod Group Is Kicking Butt" I Am Not Racist I Hate Everyone Equally Re: All Cat Owners Beware - Djpete - 20-12-2005 thanks Bill. Bad luck there mate... keep ya chin up.... Cheers, Pete Z Web World Mobile Dj, Web Design, Photography, Bullshit Artist! Re: All Cat Owners Beware - BUSGO - 20-12-2005 Sorry to hear about your loss Bill. If it is any help, I have a 13 year old Tiger you can have. He has been grieving for our poor old Silky that passed away in the early part of the year. They grew up together and the Silky died from Kidney disease after chewing the bottom of some treated pine fence posts. (Another important thing to beware of if you have pets) I don't think we will be having another pet after the current cat. Rgds BUSGO Re: All Cat Owners Beware - chunkylover - 21-12-2005 Sorry to hear... What brand was it? Anggita Re: All Cat Owners Beware - Xhiler8r - 21-12-2005 It was a Ragdoll Chunky absolutely wonderfull cats they are Thanx for all the kind words guys Regards Bill "Secret Mod Group Is Kicking Butt" I Am Not Racist I Hate Everyone Equally Re: All Cat Owners Beware - pan - 21-12-2005 Ragdolls. Re: All Cat Owners Beware - Xhiler8r - 21-12-2005 Just for you pan here she is in the play thing I made for her Regards Bill "Secret Mod Group Is Kicking Butt" I Am Not Racist I Hate Everyone Equally Re: All Cat Owners Beware - Beestroyer - 22-12-2005 What brand flea control? You said it was a mistake? Was it flea control for dogs or something? If it was a flea control cor cats, then surely they owe you big time? I'd hate this to happen to my cat! Re: All Cat Owners Beware - Xhiler8r - 22-12-2005 It was actually a dog one that we used and before you say anything else I know we should have checked but we used to use an exelpet one ages ago that was for both cats and dogs this was the friskies brand dont worry we have learnt from our mistake take it was an expensive one but the wife actually used to use flea tablets and thinking back even then the cats used to twitch and carry on after reading the ingredients of the tablets we found that they also had the same drug in them so now it is only flea collars and we double read everything I am not asking for sympathy from anyone this was just posted as a warning so no-one else would make the same mistake Regards Bill "Secret Mod Group Is Kicking Butt" I Am Not Racist I Hate Everyone Equally |
