Motobat awesome battery

And get yourself some sort of battery maintainer charger.

I have an Oxford one that only charges ones the charge in the battery falls below a certain level.

Had both bikes hooked up to one of these, and some fuel storage conditioner in the fuel and engine run a few minutes to get it through the system.

After three months away, both bikes started first hit of the starter.

Normally not a problem Les, I have a battery maintainer on the BMW bike but I normally ride the Busa every week and gets a good charge. Still, for $60 might be a good alternative. Pi_thumbsup

When the forum first started, there was talk about Confused it takes about 15 minutes of running to re-charge the battery voltage used from a start. so a series of short runs over a period of weeks would slowly drain the batt. Frown

I got 9 years out of my first battery, ran it as a commuter 3hrs nearly every weekday.

2nd battery is 5 years old and getting very sluggish, the bike sits in the shed on an itelliget trickle charger most of the time! Frown

Got 3 different "intelligent" chargers on 3 different bikes - all different brand chargers.

IMHO - the Ctek's are the best.

I have 3 ctek chargers for my bikes, two 0.8A & one 0.8/5.0A. And another cheap Jaycar trickle charger for the dirt bike. I need these as I do FIFO 2 weeks on/2 weeks off. Some of the bikes may go 2-3 months between rides.
Just got my last ctek 0.8A charger off ebay for $53 including free express post with 2 days delivery from Vic to Qld.

9 yrs Wardy? Jesus! That's a good run! Off to pick up a battery and a Ctek today. Was wondering if anyone has a remote charging point set up so you don't have to take the seat off and on each time? Would be interested to see how they did that?

Thanks Mozzie, will pick one up today, I do have another band off charger on the BMW GT with no problems but when I looked at its price 6 weeks ago they wanted $80 from BunningsScary

I did a thread on putting in LEDs and a charging point under hump but can't find it anymore...
just get a fuse holder, weather proof ciggie socket and wire it straight to battery and locate under hump.. takes me about 5 seconds to hook up my trickle charger these days

RE: Battery dead - Pommie - 12-08-2013

Ctek chargers can be hard wired to the battery and have a push on connector

You just reminded me I installed a cigarette charger under the hump to charge up my accecories, might be able to charge the battery that way? Just checking on the motobatt which was recommended for the 06 model and it is only 160 CCA. Where the Yuasa one I did have was 230CCA. Big difference?

Yep, thats how I trickle charge mine.. put a ciggie plug on end of charger leads and plug into socket... works a treat and starts every time

make sure ur socket is direct wired to battery (an inline fuse wont hurt as they only flow at under 1amp)

That's right Pommie, my connector hangs underneath near the rear brake switch....held there loosely with a cable tie

If my father-in-law entrusted me with the keys to his Busa and asked me to start it once a week I'd be asking myself 'What's the catch?'

CTek
Got the pigtails on my three bikes, quad bike, ride on mower, and shitty old $300 forklift. So easy to plug the charger in whenever. I reckon the 'recondition' mode on the ctek chargers helps a lot to.
