another light load issue - Pommie - 25-07-2013 Around 60kph in 1st to 5th engine feels like it's hunting one sec then almost misfiring the next. All vac lines are good, nothing trapped or linked, plugs and air filter recently replaced. Gipro says it's in the right gears so I don't think gear postion sensor sending wrong signal. Haven't done voltage check yet. Almost feels like injectors could be leaking as opposed to spraying. No codes to read. Any ideas guys??? Give it a fistful and no probs. Nothing above 80ish. Just happens when commuting around town. RE: another light load issue - Maj - 25-07-2013 maybe lean area due to fuel pressure or mapping, ??? RE: another light load issue - Dale - 26-07-2013 My '01 was doing very much the same until Maj told me how to do the fuel pump cleanout mod. All was good after I pulled the pump out and cleaned the muck out .. just a thought ![]() RE: another light load issue - Pommie - 26-07-2013 Thanks Dale. Pumps not that old though. Changed it last year after original one died. Haven't let it get below quarter tank since. RE: another light load issue - Pommie - 26-07-2013 (25-07-2013, 10:01pm)Maj Wrote: maybe lean area due to fuel pressure or mapping, ??? I've reset the tre to its default. Just taken my old fuel pump to bits and flushed the filter. Gonna try putting that back on tomorrow. Bike is at work so can't test either til later. Going to put a fresh tank of fuel through it and try some injector cleaner. Can't do any harm. If it improves with clean fuel filter then I'll put a new pump on it. (not expensive anymore of eBay) What adhesive is best to put the end back on filter housing?? RE: another light load issue - Maj - 27-07-2013 just measure the flow out of the tank , take a bit of 5 /16 hose and slip in on the outlet and run it to a cheap kitchen measure. Bypass the ecu switching of the fuel pump with a wire , bolt one end to the frame and strip back the other to push into the back of the yellow/ black stripe wire at the fuel pump relay fuel pump then works with key switch and you can measure a 30 sec flow don't have to pull anything apart untill you know its not right RE: another light load issue - Pommie - 27-07-2013 Thanks for that Maj but I got it sorted now. I took the plugs out yesterday before riding home and had a look, there was one a slightly different colour to the others. Also cleaned out throttle bodies, rechecked lines etc, had the tank off emptied it and washed it out, refilled with fresh fuel, threw in some more injector cleaner just for good measure and rode it home like I stole it. Ran like a bag o shite. Still had the same issue at same speed only now at 7500rpm it dropped onto three cyls. Put some new plugs in it today and all is well. Hits the rev limiter in fist three gears, nowhere around here to try it in the others and no farting and spluttering at low rpms. Thanks very much for you help and suggestions and yours Dale. One of the great things about this forum is the wealth of knowledge and the generosity of the people willing to share it ![]() ![]() ![]() The plugs were swapped less than 1000km ago so I didnt really suspect them as the problem Incidentally I priced up a brand new pump from Beaudesert Suzuki, over $900 ![]() ![]() ![]() RE: another light load issue - CeeJay07 - 27-07-2013 Are they iridium plugs Pommie? Should last more than 1000kms whether iridium or not....something else could be the cause of plug fouling????????? RE: another light load issue - Pommie - 27-07-2013 Not iridiums but I reckon just a dodgy plug. Bought em from UK,, Pommie shite RE: another light load issue - CeeJay07 - 27-07-2013 (27-07-2013, 09:13pm)Pommie Wrote: Not iridiums but I reckon just a dodgy plug. It returned while riding home from work yesterday. not as bad but it returned none the less. So shall recheck the plugs and if there is one off colour maybe replace the coil and do a compression test while they're out. Failing that it's off to the workshop. RE: another light load issue - Batfink - 30-07-2013 while you got everthing out, pull the injector rail and get it sonically cleaned.... fixed a lot of my issues RE: another light load issue - Pommie - 30-07-2013 Okay, had the pump tested and its ratshit. Now...... a new pump from Suzuki $960 bucks, ...Powerhouse Dyno in Nerang can sell me a brand newy with warranty for $150. Probably aftermarket or recon but carefactor ??????????? Picking it up tomorrow. Hopefully thats the end of the saga RE: another light load issue - Pommie - 01-08-2013 Fitted my new pump today, havent had chance to roadtest it yet though. Thought I'd put these pics of what I found inside I'm pretty sure this is the result of filling up at Canungra a couple of weeks back on my way into work, as I'd not long given it a service and it was running well, until I filled up there and it started faffing about. I'll go for a ride tomorrow and see if its cured RE: another light load issue - GRUNTMAX - 01-08-2013 Plenty of flow; http://www.jegs.com/i/Aeromotive/027/11142/10002/-1 ...there is also a Bosch model that fits, maybe Maj knows. ![]() |
