Bike gear - Dan85 - 20-12-2012

Hi all.

With my looming purchase of another hayabusa next weekend time has come for me to buy a few new pieces of gear.

Firstly boots, what's a good mid-priced boot for those among us with larger calves? My falcos no longer zip up..........

Secondly, what are some decent but not overly expensive riding pants? just something comfortable that offers a little bit of protection for those lazy weekend jaunts about the place

Thanks.

just bought these second hand for 235 They come today. Hope they are ok. I tried the new alpinestars mx 5 and they were sooooo stiff.

that's true Dj... but they do loosen up fairly quick (in the right places). I'm on my 2nd pair of mx5 and still also use my mx4wp.
Once you get past that initial break 'em in period, they are a great boot. Pi_thumbsup

edit: just checked, mine are s-mx5 and s-mx4wp....not mx

sounds good Dan. My boots came have them on. Feel good and fit well. They are SMX R but I dont think they make em any more.

i wear RJays fuel boot, with fit calves i couldnt find a boot anywere that wasnt restrictive, the fuel boot is low cut, and extremly comfortable, id say more comfy than my $250 asics runners lol

Cool thanks guys. Skidmarx i looked at the fuel boot and also these http://www.bikebiz.com.au/products/Alpinestars-Fastlane-Shoes.html

oh wow, thats a nice looking shoe, i havnt heard of them before, but given that there alpine stars i would assume there pretty good,

I have big calves and the best mid priced boots that I found are Gaerne. If you want to spend more then get
SIDI vortice. They have an adjustable calf and everything else I might add. Best bought from the states

Try AXO Aragon model. I have a pair and love them. No zippers, no laces and very comfortable Pi_thumbsup

Hey Dan another Busa you must be biting at the bit ...Clap

As far as riding gear goes just about all the big brands do a good mid priced boot, I'm a bit of a Sidi Fan and have had mine for over 10yrs now and they have last extremely well but I don't have issues with my calves.

Riding pants well really depends on what you want leather or jeans.. there is some good priced leather around these days brands like RST do a reasonably priced leather gear and I know a lot of guys that have used it and been very happy. If your looking at the jeans type market then Dragon Jeans or something with ya Kevlar Stitching and inserts would be the go or there is some really good textile gear around these days as well.

Now after all that what Busa are you buying - New, 2nd Hand, Gen 1 or Gen II come on your holding out....now when you mentioned buying a Bus I've just clicked that you were talking about a Busa, when ya coming down if I'm not working might be able to meet up.

Now most importantly are you in for our Busa Run next year ???
