The NSW government is planning to cut more than $200,000 in funding from an organisation that supports people with cystic fibrosis, the opposition says.
The state government is preparing to slash over $200,000 in funding from Cystic Fibrosis NSW, Opposition Leader John Robertson says.
The organisation provides support and respite services for sufferers of the disease and their families.
Mr Robertson says the cuts are outlined in an internal departmental document listing programs earmarked under the government's plan to slash $500 million from Community Services over the next four years.
That figure was revealed in a leaked document published by Fairfax media earlier in October.
Mr Robertson says the cuts to Cystic Fibrosis are a blow to people who are already doing it tough.
"It takes an incredibly mean and heartless government to rip funding away from people with cystic fibrosis," he said in a statement on Sunday.
The state opposition and community activists say the cuts to community services will have a disastrous impact on some of NSW's most vulnerable residents.
