Hi, I have a 2010 Busa with around 8,000km on the clock.
Just recently i have noticed that when i first fire it up, (cold start)
Then go to put it in gear it clunks very loudly.
Not sure but i am thinking it has gotten worse over the last few months.
It is a daily ride, so hasn't been sitting around.
Is there anything that i can do to stop the noisy clunking into gear to start of with.
I have tried pulling the clutch in and out a few times before putting in into gear thinking this might help some, but didn't
If anyone has had this same issue of knows how to solve this issue it would be greatly appreciated.

Had several big Suzuki's that do it.
Some worse than others.
I go through the same routine:
1: Check its been serviced.
2: Check the chain tension.
3. Check the cush drive.
4: Realise than none of the above has made any difference
and ignore it.

BBluesilver, I just need to add a caveat. With the Busa, consistently starting the bike while in gear may result in starter gear problems over time. Personally, I'd just put up with the clunk.

are you putting it into first with the choke on?
a high idle can also cause a clunk going into first.

Gen2's don't have a choke (fast idle), well mine doesn't anyway.
Mine has 400k's on the clock and does the same, although only when it's dead cold and only the once. I was a bit concerned too, but Camel has now put my mind at ease (thanks mate
). My old gen1 sounded like the gearbox was going to fall out when I put it into first .. cold or hot

All of my previous bikes have done this. My 'busa ('99) never has, always a soft little click, no jolt, even from cold after a long rest. Heard it's common on the Gen2, but not so on the gen1.

My Gen1 (02) and Gen2 (B-King) are similar.
Neither sneaks gently into gear.

It is a design feature to let you know that you have engaged into a gear. If they had this on Moto 2 bikes, Marquez would avoid looking like a dick on the grid during the last race
Seriously though mine is clanking as well 2010 with 8K travelled.

Hold the clutch in for about 15 seconds, then engage first - it'll be quiet.
Once warm, anticipate the traffic lights from about 10 seconds out and holding in the clutch that long will give you super quiet first gear changes then as well.

The 2005 bandit I had was a shocker for that clunk, thought for sure there would be bits of steel floating around at oil change, but there never was, otoh my wife had a sv650, quietest gear select outside of a Honda,

If I don't hold the brake on, on my old honda when I first engage 1st for 1st time from cold, it near launches across the garage with a huge "Ker-lunk" after that it's smooth as silk. Never worried about it, it's just one of those things bikes do. Just be firm and precise with that first change and it should be right from then on.
