Melb - Darwin - PostmanPete - 17-07-2012

HELP please?

I'm planning a ride from Melbourne to Darwin soon. According to Whereis, there's no fuel stops between Camooweal and 3 ways (just outta Tennant Creek). Is this correct?

Cheers Biker

Camooweal - Barkly Homestead is to 260 kms then 211 kms to Tennant Creek , once you cross into NT border , speed limit is 130. Watch out for wild life out there .

Thanks....... had to zoom right in on whereis to even find the place.
Looks like no need to carry any fuel the whole way. Cheers Biker

RE: Melb - Darwin - Zoro - 18-07-2012

Might need a bank loan to get fuel at Barkly though....Very Happy

Big skippy's around there too and the coppers at Sedan are usually on the prowl same as the one's from Daly Waters once you get past 3 ways.
Should have plenty of time to see them though, take it easy around that way not too many people to help you in that area.

Yeah, we drove up in August. Paid $2 a litre at Wyckliffe Wells. No options tho, just about running on vapours! Biker

Get used to the "No options" in Darwin, we get fingered for everything up here.

Diesel is still $1.56/ltr, think its around $1.30 down your way at the moment??

I think you will find $1.56 for Diesel is pretty average once you are north of Rockhampton @ the moment.....

Thanks Beau, I hope so too, the trip was gunna happen, then not gunna happen for time reasons. Then I thought 'stuff it, I'll ride up, don't want regrets later on, it's only money after all' So I'm leaving work a week earlier, ride to Darwin and fly back the next day. Coupla days later jump on a plane to the states for a 3 week driving holiday. Get home on Monday, leave for Darwin in the car Tuesday. Start working up there following Monday! Not so sure about pics....... over 1000kms a day, don't wanna ride at nite! Life's an adventure after all! Biker

When are you thinking about riding up, if you ride between 8- 5 most off the roos would have left the road , this time of the year with winter around they hang close to the road, make sure you have your winter gear with you.
