RE: mag test zx14r vs busa vs bmw - beally55 - 06-05-2012 Go for a ride on the 14..the dealers have plenty of demo bikes availablr. RE: mag test zx14r vs busa vs bmw - bazman - 06-05-2012 Heya Chris, make sure ya bring yours to Tathra this year, mate.....& stir those one-eyed die-hard busa fans right up!!! RE: mag test zx14r vs busa vs bmw - beally55 - 06-05-2012 Yeah Baz , might do that.I`ll see if i can beat Mr sensible for best non busa this year. Might even bring the C109 boulevared and really stir some shit. Shifu can give me some pointers on how to ride , and maybe he can get there before all the SA crew RE: mag test zx14r vs busa vs bmw - jeffro45 - 11-08-2012 Hey guys just saying.... and trying hard here for an unbiased opinion..... went for a test ride last week on the new ZX....wasnt a bad ride but observed the following...engine silky smooth ( much smoother then my Gen II) power similar, but as revs rise noticeable gruntier engine (bloody should be, with 100cc more and new engine!). Handling similar to the mighty busa ... and seemed suprisingly nimble. At highway speeds didn t have the same wind protection (in fact lousy) from busa which is excellent ....I felt perched up higher and sitting on the bike (better for touring I reckon) rather than "in" the bike like my busa...brakes very good... Overall?? Its not that impressive however I liked it, I wouldnt sell the busa for one. In my opinion the Busa handles better ...is more nimble, has a better sport type riding position and just LOOKS bloody better!!! Power similar from most speeds but ZX gruntier engine thru mid range.... Oh and the only other thought I had when my busa was next to it...made the busa look older in styling (but we all know the busa is just an art form!!).... In fairness to the ZX only had 1000kms on it...my busa 25K....so its still a tight engine (ZX that is).... I am sure changing the riding postion, aftermarket exhausts and your select tyres would make it an impressive unit........ In the end though it is a Kwaka....my vote goes to Suzuki busa King of the Road! Jeffro RE: mag test zx14r vs busa vs bmw - DAD - 11-08-2012 I just don't get why the BMW is in the test? Strange In a UK mag test I saw recently they included a 1300 BMW, which made more sense. Incidentally none were happy with the BMW fron end, finding it slow to turn in and lacking feedback. Apart from some minor performance points there wasn't much between the Kawa and the Busa. The crux of it all is whether the lack of ABS, traction control etc. made the Busa a lesser bike. Reading between the lines there was a certain fondness for the pure soul of the Busa. Good report Jeff. Interesting that you say comfort and noise at speed not as good. - Important for touring. I was also surprised how close those graphs were, not the great leap we've been told, although seat of the pants may make it feel more if you are more "out in the wind" and not so protected? I love the look of the ZX from the front, low and angry. Pity it looks like a barge from the side! Just livin' in hope My Suzuki will eventually up the antee. . . again! |
