Help!
I am relatively handy with a spanner and follow instruction well, however I have never done any clutch work on a bike. Once my new stands arrive I would like to have a look at my clutch, which has been a bit "grabby" of late, and if needs be replace it.
What kind of tools will I need? Just how much mechanical prowess do I need (How easy is a clutch on a 99 busa?)
Seems an OEM clutch will be sufficient for my needs but if anyone has a better suggestion please let me know.

Are you sure you're not just getting used to the bike and revving it a bit higher when you take off.
The clutch will lockup and grab if you try to slip it on a fast take off. This is its normal operation. You cannot have a smooth takeoff on the the oem clutch if you rev it & slip the clutch. It will grab and lock.
Others have modified their clutches to allow them to slip, but it wont be as strong.

He has a 99er also with no slipper ring, Wardy
From 2001 they changed the first fiber with sort of smaller one with two large washers that goes in side of the fiber, (one is a spring)
With the change over you will have a smoother take off
8mm & 10 mm socket is all you need, pm me phone number if you like & I'll call you tomorrow if you like

I am getting used to the bike but there is almost no slip at all. I pretty much have to idle it into gear then start the throttle on.
Given this is my first busa I may be just a bit paranoid but the bike has 66000 on the clock so I am not sure about the age of the clutch either.

Thanks tonnes Simmo, hopefully once I do the change over my takeoffs will be a little less frightening and a lot more ball tearing.

clutch slave,master cyls may need bleeding if its not fully disengaging the clutch
or look at recent threads about clutch slave protection in case the slave is gunked up with chain lube
other 99-00 prob was a shuddering clutch , a BTL mod (or weld up the back torque limiter ) or convert to the later clutch inner as Simmo suggested fixes that

NO NEED FOR A STAND
Just leave bike on side stand & put the front wheel on a paver / block of wood etc . This will lay the bike over enough to allow the clutch work without any oil loss.
