RE: fork seals. - Driller - 17-02-2012 If you have a set of feeler gauges handy you could try sliding it up under the seal sometimes it's just a bit of shit caught in there otherwise it's new seals & oil RE: fork seals. - Zoro - 18-02-2012 Give one of these a try before replacing them, few people have them up here for their dirt bikes and seem to work. http://sealmate.net/ Have heard of making them up out of margarine container plastic. Be worth a shot. RE: fork seals. - donovandon100 - 18-02-2012 I would not recomend SHOCK TREATMENT! Ive had nothing but good dealings with Terry & Grant RE: fork seals. - donovandon100 - 18-02-2012 Yes Terry Hay's Shock Treatment. They had my forks for three months, too busy to look at them. They said my legs needed to be re-chromed,when I asked about new replacements they said "not available" The initial quote for front and the rear shock was about $600 to $900.00 The chroming was going to be about$400.00. Final price was $1761.45 The chroming was charged at $560.00 plus GST When I fitted the forks to the bike the front axle would not fit in the hole. I had to re-machine the hole for the axle to fit, both sides. Once I had the front wheel fitted there was a loud squeaking noise from the front forks! I called and spoke to Terry and he said the Initial price was "trade" and I was not "trade", even thought I am a licenced mechanic and am working in the "Trade" His explanation for the loud squeaking was "It will go away" He went further to say that it was the springs rubbing on the inside of the forks because they were bowing under the pre-load. It had no noise before I sent the forks in,I only actually wanted to get them sorted out for my weight, the chrome looked fine althought they were assembled when i sent them in. The bike has done a few K's so he was probaly right the chrome probaly was on its last leg's. Now I have a $1761.45 dollar SQUEAK Don't forget to add the cost of freight as well! I would rather use HARLEY forks on my BUSA than go back there. The other thing is they are going to need rebuilding once the metal filings from the springs rubbing internally circulate through the new GOLD VALVES and destroy them! THAT IS WHY I WOULD NOT TAKE MY SUSPENSION TO SHOCK TREATMENT! |
