FI LIGHT ON ? - beally55 - 13-02-2012

The fi light has come on a couple of times , but if I turn the ignition off and then restart it it goes out .When it is on the bike seems to run ok .Any ideas on what the problem might be?
Only done 13000 kms and had the regulator/rectifier recall done..
Would appreciate any help .
Chris

RE: FI LIGHT ON ? - 99er - 13-02-2012

IF ITS GOOD WEATHER WHERE YOU ARE LEAVE IT OUTSIDE IN THE SUN.WARM THE BIKE UP TO HELP IT DRY OUT,THIS HAPPENED TO ME ON MY GEN 1,

Bridge the dealer plug under the seat
white plug , next to rhs seat retaining loop
its a 6 wire plug with 4 wires
2 of the wires, the white/red and the black white , next to each other on the plug , need joining to put the fault codes on the dash , your actually earthing the white red when you do this, i just strip back a bit of electrical wire and push the ends into the plug , you can leave it in untill you get a fault, doesn't effect anything else , just tape the wires in place

Maj , will the gen 1 Dealer (toggle switch ) work on gen 2 as I have one Chris can borrow .

Thanks Maj, i`ll try that for my ride tomorrow. I guess by what you are saying that it will do no harm to leave the bridge in all the time.
Geeeny thanks for the offer .Why don`t you come for a ride tomorrow ....the beer taps can wait. The forecast is perfectYesBiker

Love to Chris ,But have some pub's with no beer & they won't wait. Next time Mate ,

RE: FI LIGHT ON ? - Maj - 13-02-2012

The gen 1 is a 4 pin plug but the switch (or any switch) and wires will work , you can de pin the wires and terminals out of the 4 pin plug if you need
