GEN I ECU's - Troopmaster - 14-01-2012

Ahoy Pirates!

Can anyone tell me if there are any differences between 2000 and 2002 ECU's?

Will a 2000 run as it should with a 2002 ECU in it?
If it will, is it simply a "Plug n Play" situation?

Thanks,
Matt.

Yes 8bit vs 32bit

No.

Don't hold me to this matt but I Think 99/2000/20001 &2002 has the same ECU which can't be flashed .2003 to not sure 16 bit latest gen 1's 32 bit .

I've got a 2004 ECU & Stator rotor in the cupboard in case I Need more Power When I'm 70 . Sure . Pete will know the truth as we expect .Don't know why they changed them from the original as all it did was slow them down . joking Shufu , well a little Actually I'm half serious , Mr Dry Chain .

Ps I've been thinking about your chain theory, Mate & Have a horrible feeling that you May be Right .

RE: GEN I ECU's - Maj - 15-01-2012

99-2000 were one ecu, 2001 was another and 2002-07 another
crank rotor /trigger changed in 02 and wiring loom changed in 01

EG: to flash a 99 (usually a 02+ thing) you need to change the rotor, ecu and either repin the 99 loom to suit the different ecu pinout or put a 02 loom in
or a 01 needs the rotor and ecu but the loom is already correct

Sounds like you doubted the information I gave him?

Leonard.

RE: GEN I ECU's - Troopmaster - 16-01-2012

Im lost here......meant to ask you about the chain theory at Lobethal on Sunday Pete, (as I dont remember talking Chains with you), but my little Female friend turned up on her 2012 Gixxer 600, so my attention went elsewhere! Very Happy
Sounds like it was a convo with SHIFU anyways?

The ECU question was for a mate of mine who never gets around to getting on the Forum, he has a 2000 GENI (Old Shitter Lol3 ) and after many tests and shops, (I suggested that he take it to see "Holeshot" at Superbike Performance, but he said he had some other mates who think they can fix it, and they havnt been able to), (havnt we all heard that story before), anyways it seems to be the ECU, and Ive found a 2002 ECU, but it seems its no good.

Leonard, do you still have Quicksilver?

Sorry to miss you Troopie on that Sunday. There were thousands of bikes on the road (I took the Gorge Road hoping to even up the tyres a bit) and I could not even do a speed limit Pi_freak so I was a tad later than usual. We can talk chains later as most of the people get their technical knowledge from advertising material of the chain lube sellers.

Anyway, my question is - is she going to lend you that Gixxer for Mallala? Lol3

Troopy i just pulled a 99 ecu off a bike , converting it to later model
it would be for sale ,
Also have an 01 ecu
and complete 02+ ecu and rotor to match
Actually if i get time i need to clean my garage a bit and sell off the stuff i have accumulated but not using

To further add to the "ECU Confusion";

"99-2000 were one ecu, 2001 was another and 2002-07 another

LOL been playing with these so long i could nearly tell you the wire colour for each sensor and output without looking it up, but i still do , to be sure ,
