Smooth as silk for the first 1000 km after an oil change. Will try the Oleon Tathra prize next change .Heard it's great . RE: What oil? - Skidmarx - 12-01-2012 iv always used motul 300v, BUT a mate recomended motorex "top speed" so iv bought a bottle of that, now just waiting for my brake pads, filters and plugs to turn up so i can give it a birthday RE: What oil? - BUSGO - 14-01-2012 Having done over 120,000 ks on busa's, I have always found that Motul 3100 Gold 10/40w gives outstanding smoothness, quietness and performance and only needs changing at 10,000k intervals. Ideal for street riding. RE: What oil? - stonedpirate - 14-01-2012 thanks all i ended up putting motul 5100 in it today will try the good stuff next time cheers RE: What oil? - Greeny_SA - 15-01-2012 (14-01-2012, 08:21pm)stonedpirate Wrote: thanks all OK , so I'm a cheap bastard . The only true way of checking to see how good oil is used to be to strip some motors down after many similar miles and check them for wear. Nowadays we have vibration and oil sampling to help. Maybe the bikes with plenty of kays on them ie Wardy 240,000 can tell us wat they use? I'll use whatever he uses ![]() RE: What oil? - jamdonut - 15-01-2012 I was reading on some searches about quite a few motorcycle owners using diesel oil, one of the users claimed that the worst synthetic motorcycle oil was no where as good as the cheapest diesel oil. There is a post about this somewhere here and the oil lab test to prove it. A guy I know who has a GSX 1400 swears by it claiming gear changes are smoother and it a better than motorcycle oil. Anyone here use diesel oil in their motors? RE: What oil? - Ward P - 15-01-2012 I've always been told to change oil filter at every oil change, and change the oil often. I change my oil every 5000km or less. I'll also change it if I have a big ride coming up - over 1000kms or so. I'll also change it before a track day - because it's gonna spend most of the day up and around redline. I change the filter everytime, and have been running motul 5100 for the last few years, but have just got some full synth off Ray, so I'll give that a go next. Oil is cheap insurance for your motor, as long as it's decent oil, I don't think the brand is anywhere near as important as the frequency of changes.
