whats the difference between Gen 1 & Gen 11 - Rosebusa - 07-12-2011

Sorry if this is a repost I have searched for the past half hour and couldn't find anything other than the 2008 and 2011 difference. I am wanting to purchase another Busa.... for the other half and I am not sure what the differences are, I know they have tweeked some areas and body mods but I would like some views from owners.
Thanks heaps

I've seem some posts, but maybe not on here. My two bobs worth (although comments on Gen I are based on a fairly short ride) is:
1. Better front end
2. Better turn in (although maybe not fair to compare a new bike with one having a few years on it)
3. 1340cc instead of 1300cc
4. Updated clutch, debatable if it can be called a 'slipper', but it is 'back-torque limiting'
5. Apart from the 'zorsts, much better looking, especially in blue :-)

The Gen2 is suposed to have better brakes , but i can't say from personal expereance as i have only riddn a Gen1.

RE: whats the difference between Gen 1 & Gen 11 - Rev004 - 08-12-2011

Hi Kylie thats a really good question..

The GenII was basically refined in most aspects such as Brakes, Suspension & more horsepower etc and some minor styling changes which some peoeple like and don't like.

I have ridden both models and I reckon that the GenI was smoother but since Re-Flashing my ECU my Busa is a different bike and is now very smooth compared to standard. I do like the GenII but in saying that I have ridden a couple of very nice GenI's so it really comes down to the individual and what they are chasing.

If your after a Gen I I know where there is one for sale in mint condition, it's an 04 Model.

RE: whats the difference between Gen 1 & Gen 11 - Ward P - 08-12-2011

The Gen 1 came out in 1999 - and apart from a few tweaks, changing the fuel pump and ecu. and a couple of recalls, nothing really changed up to 2007.

The Gen 2 came out in 2008.

so "should" have 10 years of technology upgrades.

The Gen1 is still an awesome bike. The Gen2 is just a bit more "awesomerrr"

Although the gen2 is a bit heavier, it actually feels lighter to ride and steering feels lighter to chuck about. I feel you also sit a little higher on the Gen2. Obviously, The Gen2 has more power, but unless you are riding it up around redline and really wringing it's neck, you wont notice any discernable power difference.
A Gen1 will be cheaper, but if budget isn't a concern, you'd get the Gen2 everytime (unless nostalgia lets you have both in your garage.)

Well put Wardy - the amount of awesomness is the only real difference Lol3

10 % better all around, except some say it has an ugle bum, but if your on one you wont see it Nerd

RE: whats the difference between Gen 1 & Gen 11 - Tony Nitrous - 08-12-2011

The Gen2 has brakes.

RE: whats the difference between Gen 1 & Gen 11 - pan - 08-12-2011

The Gen 1 is cheaper to buy, to insure, to run, to maintain, to bling and to modify in terms of performance beyond what an OEM Gen 2 can do...
....and makes a better track bike... LOL

RE: whats the difference between Gen 1 & Gen 11 - Tony Nitrous - 08-12-2011

Gen2 has (i think) titanium valves and less sturdy barrels
that make the Gen1 a better option for turbo's and big bores.

Is that right ?

Thanks so much for the feedback. Hubby is going to take my Busa for a long run tomorrow, he has only had short rides on it so he can get a feel for it. Honestly he doesn't need to... as I know how it feels lol. I have not ridden the Gen 1 either. Thanks Busgo for the link, very helpful. Rev can you pm about the Gen 1 with more info please. Shifu your funny and yes it is awesomer. I would love one myself for track but I am not allowed to, just have to learn to stay up right on the one I have. Thank you all for the infor much appreciated :)
