200 rear tyre on stock rim, GEN II?? - De5nake - 23-09-2011

what are the pros and cons of putting a 200 rear tyre on a stock rim??

Hi mate,

That is what I had in mind for my busa, But when I spoke with my mechanic he agreed the busa will look sick and meanPi_thumbsup but he said It will not handle the turnsScary very well.
I decided to put the 190 Dunlop Sport Smart front and back.
I only picked the bike up last night. If its not raining in the morning i might have a bit of a test run.

So if you dont go hard in to turns 200 will look great.

The "look" depends on the profile of the tyre too. I have a Shinko 190 and it is actually wider than the Bridegstone 200 I had on it in the past...

I can't see a 200/55 turning less than a 190/50.

Pan. how do you find the shinko tyre. they seem to be getting better i like the idea of a 200 on the rear i dont think i,d notice the little slower turning in the corners.

B-Kings and Busa2 have the same size rear rim's.
B-King has a 200 as stock fitment. Its OK but not great.
Many folk (myself included) change from a 200/50 to a 190/55.
It seem's to help the tip-in feel. Admittedly the King is longer
and heavier than the Busa and changing the tyre go's a
small way to compensate this.

If and when I get a gen2 it'll be getting a 190/55 rear too.

Im stretching aswell, just 4 inches so i dont mind to much bout cornering, i will give it a go, my rear doesnt need replacing so if i dont like ill change it back, so do i go higher profile to get a fatter look or lower profile?

Having owned one bike with a stretched arm.
and ridden a few others, Personaly I dont think
using a 50 or 55 profile tyre will make a huge
difference with the longer arm's handling.

If your not a knee down sportsbike chaser
I dont think the profile will effect you to much.
(opinion... not fact)

Many of the less sporty B-King riders say they
are happy with the factory 200 fitment.
