Forks -Front end - Axe - 19-07-2011

Does anyone out there know...

will a gen 2 front end (complete forks)
fit on a gen 1 bike????

I'm pretty sure they are interchangeable, but just want more confirmation.....

Also as an alternative, has anyone fitted aftermarket forks... Ohlins or sim????

Cheers.

Axe

Yep forks fit, front axel is slighty different if i remember....

B-King also has VERY similar forks to Mk2.
Just different finish and internals I think.
There have been a few BK/Mk2 swaps.

One of the US forums was doing Ohlins R&T forks
to fit 08-11 models at US$2099.

So as far as the gen 2 forks.... I'll need a gen 2 axel? or they are a little different but both will fit fine in the gen 2 forks?

Your pretty much going to need the wheel , brakes and axle too,
I have some gen 1 ohlins here fg43 , needs 1 tube $800, they were always on my "going to get around to fixing them one day" list

Triple clamps are the same,
Fork Diameter are the same.

Everything else is different.

That said, you can make (or get made) spacers etc to make it all fit.

Leonard.

Hey Axe a gen2 front will fit on a gen1 frame as everyone else has said. i had a play with gen1 wheels on it and seem like spacers etc would be need but cant be sure as i just went with the whole gen2 front.

axe have you looked at just doing the GEN II bottom legs on GEN I forks , cause then all you need is the wheel and brakes , this is my next upgrade on the busa ,

just a thourt

Surely Kev it would be far simpler to swap the lot???? After all, the top parts are the same anyway and it would save you pulling forks apart and swapping bits around???
Unless of course you can get the bottoms seperate?

Just a thought.......
