Rump hump - Belzybob - 22-05-2011

Has anyone put a seat pad onto the rear hump? I'm not too keen on modifying the standard seat, but was thinking about some sort of racer-like pad, but better finished and permanently attached to the hump (around 30mm or so thick).

*BUMP* Has nobody done anything like this?

To clarify. You want to sit on the hump? Or put a pad on the forward face of it?

Neither idea seem very useful or comfortable....

RE: Rump hump - bazman - 25-06-2011

yeah Bob, I've been toying with the same idea...but haven't got mine sorted just yet! I've identified a need for this mod with my personal riding style....juz gotta sift thru a few 'options' now.... Nerd

Have you undone the hump and seen how light weight it is? I can't see it taking alot of pressure...

The latter, just something to resist the backward slide under hard acceleration.

I don't think there would be that much pressure. It would just make things a bit more controllable when giving it the 'berries' in the lower gears. There are custom seats around that have a sort of raised roll at the rear, but I don't like the look.

Ah now I understand what you want it for.

I have a Tobin seat from the states and it has a raised bit at the back which helps alot with the same problem.

Yep, I know the Tobin. Thats what I mean about the look, I don't like it.

There's these new things called thighmasters...I know that help a bit and the chics love the grip to...

Wanted to do something like that myself and I have seen a picture of a seat with a little cushion at the back that was detachable to it. It was a member's bike Maj I think. Check the galleries. I'll look through my pictures and if find it I'll post it later.

Cheers for that. I reckon it could even be attached with velcro, so no holes or strong glue needed.

Is this what you are after?

The rear pad zips into place under the back of the seat

Found it! Yeap mate, I think it is attached by velcro and it looks like it does the good job of support for hard accceleration. I am going to get one for myself as well as soon as I find someone who can do it.

Sadly I'm not very artistic or adept with sewing machine etc. Attached is an attempt to show the simple sort of thing I have in mind, at most its two or three inches thick (50-75mm).
