Noisy Fuel Pump 2006 Model Bus - Busdriver - 19-05-2011 Hi All, Got a noise coming from my fuel pump. At first I thought it might have been a top end bearing on it's way out but the noise is definately coming from the fuel pump. Sort of like a whiring sound. Anyone had noises coming from their fuel pump and possibly throw some light on this. Fuel pump filters/strainers were cleaned about 8,000 kilometers ago (by someone who knew what they were doing). RE: Noisy Fuel Pump 2006 Model Bus - Busdriver - 20-05-2011 Started the bike this morning and the noise isn't there. The Gremlins must have got out when I got home. RE: Noisy Fuel Pump 2006 Model Bus - Aussie Steve - 20-05-2011 Sure it wasn't your mp3 player??? RE: Noisy Fuel Pump 2006 Model Bus - Busdriver - 20-05-2011 Nope, could here it with my helmet off and iPod unplugged RE: Noisy Fuel Pump 2006 Model Bus - Busdriver - 20-05-2011 And now the noise is back RE: Noisy Fuel Pump 2006 Model Bus - Aussie Steve - 21-05-2011 My bike is the same model...internal pump yes?? Guess its time to remove it and hope you can repair it...from what I have heard a replacement is very expensive...not much help I know but until you either discount or confirm its the pump theres not much you can do. I had a look in the only manual I have...99 to 00 so it is the external pump...but I suspect its the same deal with the later one in so much as all you can do is replace the filters. Good luck RE: Noisy Fuel Pump 2006 Model Bus - Madmax - 21-05-2011 (21-05-2011, 11:48am)Aussie Steve Wrote: My bike is the same model...internal pump yes?? Les and I priced a full fuel pump from Mr Suzuki yesterday. They want $883 full price for the damned thing, so yes, it is expensive, with a little dsiscount she's still $801. The noise comes and goes and we could hear it when Les turned the kill switch off and then on again, while the pump was [pressuring up, there was the noise, mind you, it has only done that once that we could hear. Most intriguing. RE: Noisy Fuel Pump 2006 Model Bus - Aussie Steve - 21-05-2011 My pump makes a hight pitched whining sound as it pressures up...I assumed they all did it sounds OK but I guess there is a whine and then there is a whine. I presume I am correct in thinking they are a sealed unit re the motor...I mean the bearing, if it is that, would probably only set you back a few bucks...I replaced a bearing in an evaporative air con pump cos they wanted too much for a new one and that cost about $6:00. RE: Noisy Fuel Pump 2006 Model Bus - Maj - 21-05-2011 You could remove the pump from the tank and check the inlet strainer (too coarse to be called a filter ) or check the flow and see if the filter is restricting flow and causing the pump to labour or if you have to replace try partshark.com , (pump assembly) |
