f*** f*** f*&^ing FRONT GUARD - Heidi1 - 15-09-2010

I can't get my front guard off and I've tried everything. All bolts are out, brake line is out of that damn clip thing, but I can't get it from between the front forks. Any ideas? I've tried squeezing the back, but I can't get the clip past the forks. I'm working a bit in the dark (literally), those rivets that hold in the clip are rivets aren't they, I'm sure they aren't allen key bolts.

Heidi , mine has 6 X allen head bolts ,3 each side ,They are not rivets & once all are out the guard will almost fall out by itself .IF Your referring to the clip for the brakeline I ditched it years ago so don't know what holds it on ,may well be rivets .Piss them off & the clip .

I've got the six bolts out (and I have them somewhere safe as opposed to all over the floor of the shed), but it just isn't coming out. It isn't attached by anything any more, it just won't slip between the forks.

Funny hey,the only way I know how to do it is brute force trying not to scratch the paint at the same time.
Done it twice so far, never removed the clip.
Try removing the front wheel and calipers, drop the guard down and then slide out?

Could be the plastic clip that holds the brake lines on to the guard. The at the back of thr guard (radiator side)

I can't get the front guard off, what makes you think I can get the damn WHEEL off!! Lol2 If I do that, then I've got the problem of still having the guard wedged in the wrong spot, but also the wheel off and the calipers in my hand. I would be in a world of hurt right about then. I'd have to call Sutur for advice!! Lol2 Lol2 Lol2 Between us we could get the wheel off, break something and get our hands wedged somewhere useless. We'd be out there all night!

I would resist.

ok spray ome Mr Sheen or silocone spray on the guard to make it slippery between the forks, the main problem is the little steel brake pipe clip, just force the guard a mm at a time each side, the clip will dig in be careful to only move each side a little at a time, dont give up,you can get the guard out like that.

OK!! Thanks Donovan, I'll give that a go. Great idea. No way Bill, it would just be an opportunity for me to f*** up on the internet AGAIN! Get one of the muppets who told me it was easy to do it.

Heidi if you can drill the little riverts out and toss that clamp over the fence and when you put back on just put little cable tie through two holes and around brake line Pi_thumbsup

RE: f*** f*** f*&^ing FRONT GUARD - Heidi1 - 15-09-2010

That's exactly what Greeny told me, seems a common fix.

RE: f*** f*** f*&^ing FRONT GUARD - Hutch99 - 15-09-2010

i did mine a couple of weeks ago too... i tossed the guard because it was cracked.
Big Kev supplied a new guard.
brute force was the only way of getting the old one off...either that, or take the front wheel off like someone said.
my experience anyway...
