Yoshi R77's versus Akrapovic 4-2-1 - miki - 12-09-2010

Hi guys and girls...manage to find a pair of R77's for under $1000 delivered on ebay.On the same site there is a Arapovic 4-2-1 racing line (stainless steel with carbon end) for $1350 delivered to Perth.
First of all is there really a need for a full system on a Busa since I have been told that the factory headers are titanium and developed by Yoshimura.Secondly does the bike sound better with dual cans or a full system. Spent heaps of money on my last bike and am not going down that path again Confused...I think.
And last does the Busa need a PC with a full system or can the standard ECU be reprogramed.
Thanks for any help on the subject.

Cheers

Go for the Akra system and you wont be disappointed, plus there is the weight saving over OEM system which is a benefit.

Standard gen two headers are steel not titanium
Some of the local lads are into flashing ECU's sure they can help you out.

Hay man,

I've got the Full Akro and fully recommend it...
Your welcome of a look and listen any time ...

The akro is actually full ttanium, and stock headers steel.
Plus the gen 2 has a cat converter, the akro system gets rid of this...

Dosn't need tuning or flashing... will run fin on standard settings, and even has a spot for the stock o2 senser.

Reflashing/tuning however will provide more........but not.nessarry.

$1350 for that akro system is orsum, cant go wrong....

Give me a bell if you want any more info man.

If your not going to re map it after fitting then your probably best to just spend your money on a remap with the stock system as you will gain more than running a system un mapped. The o2 sensor will adjust your idle and light cruise fueling only and once open loop condition ........................ it's effect is zero. Stock bike is allready fuelled way rich and fitting system will make it even more so. If you only want noise and weight loss for your dollars spent then no prob, if you want the results for your money spent ................... tune it.

Performance wise is there any difference between the R77s' and the Akropovic equivalent?

RE: Yoshi R77's versus Akrapovic 4-2-1 - Steve - 26-06-2011

if you are just talking cans and not full system then the difference would be very minor, as Pete has said any change to the exhaust really needs to be flashed to get the bike running properly and smoothly. On my last gen 2 I had the R77 carbon yoshi cans and then got Pete to flash it, and it had 181 rwhp, plus it ran much smoother.

Thanks Steve for the input.I'm looking into the pros and cons at the moment,I'm trying to stick with a 4 into 2 system but not necessary original.
I was checking performance charts on their charts and thought Akropovic was only slightly better
yours running at 181 is better than their results.Did you change your headers?

RE: Yoshi R77's versus Akrapovic 4-2-1 - Troppo - 26-06-2011

I'm also looking.

It is all a trade off of $ vs weight vs noise vs performance.

I do not like loud exhausts...they get very old after about 30 mins.

However, the Yoshis are not really very noisy.

The R77 twin cans look good, but the full system gives the best grunt, so I have been told...

I got a full dual Akra 4-1-2 on my bike and can fully reccomend it. The single one gives you a bit more power than the dual one but I like the symmetrical look of it. Had my ECU re-flashed by Peter (fasterfaster) and my baby is very happy. You will also save about 10 kg over the OEM which is really a worst of the bike systems (or maybe the brakes come first Undecided)

RE: Yoshi R77's versus Akrapovic 4-2-1 - Krusty - 26-06-2011

Thanks for the input fellas, both systems look good and I agree if you've got the cash a full system is the way to go.

nah mate only the cans and a k & n air filter, Petes bike has a full Yoshi system on it and from memory it is just under the 200 mark. Another mod I did was change the front sprocket for more acceleration, I did have to fit a speedo healer but it certainly made a difference to the bike and all up cost about $200.
