mapping for a tre - spamanglenn - 16-01-2007 I dropped my bike in for some tuning and have asked my tuner to do 10,20 & 40% throttle, power runs, in second gear with and without the smart tre i,ve fitted. These runs will all be air/fuel tracked as well.this should show what a tre does to power and to air fuel ratios.I also changed fuels from vortex 95 to vpower 98.I pulled the tank and emptied it between fuels. Both fuels feel dramatically different. The 95 feels livelier down low but the bike is quite sharp and vibey, the 98 feels softer down low but noticeably smoother and less vibey. The difference is so noticeable its feels about half the tre effect to light throttle imputs.A bit like pulling an old air filter and going for a spin around the block without one.I,d be interested in seeing what power 95 makes as all my tuning has been done on 98.I,d like to do this test someday. Glenn the Spa Man Re: mapping for a tre - monyx - 17-01-2007 Very interesting I'm really keen to hear the results. I have the GI-Pro & A/TRE fitted and usually run on Vortex 95 RON. For short trips 98 RON is actually worse than lower RON fuels I'm told - higher RON needs hot engine temps to cleanly burn otherwise tends to fowl plugs. Not an issue, if you commute 25km+. FF1 told me some time ago tuning Factory ECU has enough latitude, but most other places steer me straight to a PCIII...but simply not interested in dropping almost $1k on an issue that only occurs <4k rpm. Mark Canberra's Best Silver/Black K5! Re: mapping for a tre - Heidi1 - 17-01-2007 hey Mark I got a secret mod done last weekend and it is a brand new bike. I'll tell you about it at drinks tomorrow. If the result is anything like mine, it will rock your world. Re: mapping for a tre - spamanglenn - 17-01-2007 if i ahd just slip ons and a tre and maybe an airbox mod in hindsight i would just do the yoshbox tune.I have a development path for my bike that best suits the pc3usb in my case. Glenn the Spa Man Re: mapping for a tre - Fat Busa Racing 1347 - 17-01-2007 Mine still runs stock ECU,1397, 13.5 to 1 comp, 2 intake cams all done with the stock puter. and makes 191hp and pulls 149.5mph at the strip... Paul Teutul,Sr. American Chopper Re: mapping for a tre - BUSGO - 17-01-2007 Why keep it a secret Heidi? If it works, tell us all about it. Rgds BUSGO "TAKE MY ADVICE" I'm not using it anyway! Re: mapping for a tre - Gnarbunkle - 18-01-2007 I was of the opinion that higher octane fuels, amoungst other things, burnt slower. Given that the busa is not fitted with a knock detector and that standard grade fuel is specified in the manual, then ignition timing is retarded sufficiently to cope with lower grade fuels. I'm guessing that this may account for the smoother running down low and less power that you have felt. BTW I have heard pinging on 91 fuel when I have let the clutch out too far with almost no throttle twist from a standstill. Probably safer to go with the higher grade fuels, especially with higher mileage motors and carbon buildup. results almost - spamanglenn - 18-01-2007 I saw some graphs today of my bike at 10,20 & 40% throttle inputs with and without the tre, in second gear.Very interesting. These graphs show torque at these throttle percentages.Interestingly the air/fuel differences between the 2 was negligible.I always thought the sooner you ignite an air fuel mix the longer it has to burn hence the more complete the burn and the leaner the result. Not so.I,m also testing backpressure versus flow theory with more surprising results.I also discovered a glitch with a power commander and tre fitted.Stay Tuned.I know this all cost money but finding things out for yourself is satisfying (sometimes).once I,m happy i,d even consider yosh box tuning it and unplugging the pc3 for a direct comparo on my bike. TRE - fasterfaster1 - 18-01-2007 I take it that was the prob then Glen ? Was pretty sure from memory that was what I found caused the fault in one I had here. Sorry about the short convo ........ but had people everywhere when you rang earlier today If you can Glen measure the output voltage from the TRE unit and let me know what it is ? FF1 tre - spamanglenn - 18-01-2007 Haven,t got to the bottom of it yet but at a guess the ecu thinks its in sixth gear and not 5th all the time.As you said i must check what voltage its putting out.So do i just skin back the wires and measure the voltage across which wires, whilst in gear i assume? Re: tre - kawasuki - 19-01-2007 on optimax my bikes power died in the arse around 12.8/1.It made best power at 13.2-3.I,m guessing if a bike was mapped on 95 it would run better at 12.8/1 and then when you put 98 octane in it ,it chocked up on short trips on cold start enrichment, causing fouled plugs as mentioned. spamanglenn Cheers, Kawasuki Burning Question - fasterfaster1 - 20-01-2007 Leaning to lean will allways produce better power ... but it ain't SAFE power Stick to 12.8 to 1 for naturally aspirated Optimax has the octane rating but it's burn characteristics are not favorable (Paid bucks to a fuel lab for a fuel analysis to learn this one Kawa ........... ) FF1 Re: Burning Question ( what fuel ) - Fat Busa Racing 1347 - 20-01-2007 So what fuel are you guys running I have bin useing the BP 98, and had a go at the new V Power ( we only just got that stuff up north a few weeks ago ) has any one played with these fuels on a Dyno Regards Richard You're the guy that'll be sneaking out of your bedroom at three o'clock in the morning to look at your bike. Paul Teutul,Sr. American Chopper Re: Burning Question ( what fuel ) - Gnarbunkle - 20-01-2007 BP 98 mostly used on mine Re: Burning Question ( what fuel ) - spamanglenn - 20-01-2007 first time on optimax on the dyno, normally bp ultimate98.Vpower is optimax rebadged and now has less benzine apparently.Vpower racing is the 100 octane version with 5% ethanol(v8 supercars now use it). From what i have seen on my bike, the higher the octane the smoother the running but the softer the response.
