Unfortunately the $10 Ebay ones just scrape into the good category & you need to drag a laptop around to download the TF card to or to watch the footage . I have seen on Aussie EBay the gopro camera for $180 from an Aussie camera shop in Sydney . When these first came out a few years ago they were 500 dollars or so .Don't know how good they are ,but Pashnit has always sold them which is normally a good indication (Pashnit don't sell crap in my opinion ) of Quality . RE: Small / micro video camera's - Ward P - 05-08-2010 I got a nice HD Video camera, only cost me about $3k . . .haven't gaffered it onto the bike yet. "Canon" but the quality is pretty good, for a domestic unit. ![]() The new Canon D5 is a stills camera with excellent video capabilities ![]() how d'ya reckon it'd go hangn off da busa! RE: Small / micro video camera's - Rainbow7 - 05-08-2010 It really depends on how small you want to go. I just bought the GoPro HD Hero, which measures 42mm x 60mm x 30mm and weighs 167g including the waterproof (to 60 metres!) housing. I wear it on my helmet, but it can also be attached to your tank/fairing/worn on your chest, etc. It records in 720p, 960p and 1080p. It will hold any size SD card, up to 32GB. (I use a 16GB SDHC card, which records around four hours of HD film. The picture quality is amazing! Check this out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GFSDiOB0EhE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1HfOQV2L72I Those are made with the exact same model of camera that I have. http://www.goprocamera.com/index.php?area=2&productid=29 (05-08-2010, 07:40pm)Greeny_SA Wrote: I have seen on Aussie EBay the gopro camera for $180 from an Aussie camera shop in Sydney .That was the old (non-HD) model. As good as it was, it has nothing on the HD version. I did some pretty extensive research before buying and I found that pretty much everyone says the GoPro HD Hero is the best of the lot. Pashnit now sells them. RE: Small / micro video camera's - Ward P - 05-08-2010 (05-08-2010, 08:02pm)Rainbow7 Wrote: It really depends on how small you want to go. I blew these out to full screen at 1080 (2nd one, 1st was only 720p) to check quality on a HDTV. Not bad! I am impressed, these seem a great little unit for the money. chuck in the fact that they sound virtually indestructable and they seem perfect for bike videos. RE: Small / micro video camera's - highwaybruiser - 05-08-2010 A mate of mine has a couple of GoPro HD cameras and has hung them off his light aircraft and the footage from them is brilliant. I'm gunna get a couple myself. There's also the GoPro Wide which is standard definition and only available with a wide angle lens but is about $100 cheaper if the budget is a bit tight and HD isn't a high priority. RE: Small / micro video camera's - Rainbow7 - 05-08-2010 RE: Small / micro video camera's - Greeny_SA - 05-08-2010 RE: Small / micro video camera's - highwaybruiser - 05-08-2010 Not sure of the details/specs (been a while since I've been on their website), but I'm sure that with the HD Hero cams they film in Hi-Def in 170deg (how'd you do that little degree thingy????), but you can switch to a narrower 120 or similar field of view but you go back to Std-Def to do so. You don't actually switch lenses, it's done electronically. RE: Small / micro video camera's - Rainbow7 - 05-08-2010 RE: Small / micro video camera's - Timmy_0_T00l - 06-08-2010 i use a GoPro Wide mounted to the side of my bike, here a link to the video quality http://www.australian-hayabusa-club.com/MyBB/showthread.php?tid=15396 |
