S-DMS help - Tristo - 21-07-2010 Okay, I was just wondering if there were any 'time and place' situations I should be aware of for using this part of the bike. I have been searching for around an hour and the only information I can find which goes further than saying "You now have three power options" only says that C=100kw B=130kw A=146kw. So far I have only dropped it into C-mode when it is raining/wet or cars are covered in ice from a heavy frost. Otherwise I tend to just leave the thing in A-mode. But what about the middle B-mode option??? Should I be using this to put less strain on the engine on longer trips of say 50km+, or is it just for cooler roads where you don't want to be ripping things up? Also is there any fuel economy advantages to switching between the various modes? And should I be dropping down through them when taking on steep descents? RE: S-DMS help - TempOzzy - 21-07-2010 I think B mode is for when your riding with your friends that don't have Busas, and you don't want to embarrass them all the time. Seriously, I've never found a use for it. I often use C mode when the riding in the wet, otherwise it's A mode all the time. Any rider that realises the throttle has more positions than On and Off would be capable of riding comfortably in A mode in all dry conditions. I think in one of the fuel consumption threads someone has claimed substantial savings in using B or C modes, but I am not interested in finding out myself. You don't buy a Busa if you're concerned about fuel economy. I would like to find out if my B mode can be made the same as A mode, and make A mode totally unrestricted through re-flashing. I just haven't got around to talking to one of the re-flash guys about it yet. I changed my B setting a while ago for the drags via flashing but on 100 % throttle it over rid it anyway by memory, its been a while since I played with the ABC mode, I'm sure the later update may have changed the setting so access to adjust it may be gone, I'll have a look when I get a chance RE: S-DMS help - fasterfaster - 22-07-2010 Gen II can be flashed in with A B C mode operative or inoperative. This is for other functions that will / are available to be used with flashing in conjunction with the mode switch operation. Simmo correct ...early versions disabled and now mode feature is available RE: S-DMS help - simmo - 22-07-2010 THANKS FOR ASKING THE QUESTION Am I going to have some fun now with this ![]() Ok just had a look, It has all changed I thought it may off What I found is at 100 % throttle in B & C is still retarded I can access it via the STP map (I sure its for ignition advance on all maps) Saying that I have already taken out all the ignition limiters out of mine but that's on map A that I know off I cant find any different fuel maps for ABC Map A as you know is full power Map C is retarded heaps, as you would know for wet cornering riding Now the interesting part Map B Under 8% throttle is more powerful than map A so when you are cruising you wont have to twist the throttle as much, but when you go over 8 % then it drops off a fair bit Just on that you only use a couple of % cruising anyway, So that explains why the bike feels powerful on map B at low throttle then dies in the ass a bit when you open it up hard So now thats got me thinking & I'm going to do My new map B will be Under 8% it will stay the same (best power) but over 8 % will be map A all the way (best power also) what a map Yee Harr I have a feeling they may have done that to stop people flipping the bike on a hard launch, I think it will have a lot more pokier of the line, but way to much for us Gen2 drag racers that already have trouble holding the front wheel down, can't wait to find out ![]() (22-07-2010, 07:11pm)fasterfaster Wrote: Gen II can be flashed in with A B C mode operative or inoperative. Can you PM me your phone number Gu-roo RE: S-DMS help - TempOzzy - 22-07-2010 Thank you Simmo/Pete for your responses. I've been thinking about this option for a while now, but had not gotten around to starting a thread or contacting Pete. Please keep us informed of your progress with this Simmo. RE: S-DMS help - simmo - 22-07-2010 Diss regard the above post I was looking in the neutral map not each gear maps DOH TPS is the when the secondarys come in should have remembered I played around with it a year ago Map A early Mab B bit later Map C a lot later Cant see why map B is good for anything realy It will only restrick the bike, but may be good to take the sting out of 1st gear for launching at the drags if the bike is stock lenth ![]() |
