The Bus wont start! - Cotter7 - 30-06-2010 Any help here would be great. Ok. Was gonna ride the bus to work on mon. Wouldnt start. Press the start button and it cranked over once and died (was in a bit of a hurry and it was light so didnt notice the headlight). Tried again and same prob. Put the trickle charge on it mon night. Tues evening tried it. Light came on but would kick over just. Put back on trickle and tried tonight. The lights are bright, blinkers work, brake lights and high beam work. But it kicks over once then all power turns of. Then comes back on TRE shows d for a second then 0. Press start it just kicks over once and same thing. Any Ideas? Oh I tried putting it in 1st gear rocking it then trying to start it. Same deal. The battery has lots of power but she wont crank over. Starter motor or a fuse? RE: The Bus wont start! - Rainbow7 - 30-06-2010 Which year model? I'm sure I read that some of the early Busas had such high compression that they destroyed their starter motors. RE: The Bus wont start! - Cotter7 - 30-06-2010 05 model. And its only done17,000 kms Maybee I should ask God. Is Legend around? RE: The Bus wont start! - Pommie - 01-07-2010 Poss battery. You can have 12.4 v showing but if theres a prob with the plates and the CCA isnt high enough then its like trying to start it with a 12v torch battery. I see it all the time on cars. Also try cleaning battery connections. Have to be scrupulously clean RE: The Bus wont start! - Milesy - 01-07-2010 Yep, I'd be trying the battery. If it's the original battery then it's 5 years old and possibly at the end of it's life anyway, so you haven't lost anything replacing it, even if it doesn't solve the problem. RE: The Bus wont start! - Cotter7 - 02-07-2010 Yup was the battery. Thanks for the advice! RE: The Bus wont start! - Hutch99 - 02-07-2010 so whats this abut the 99/00 models???... the bike was sitting around for about 2months(no rego -with the occasional start up) got rego about a month ago, and for the last 2weeks ive had to push start everytime! ive had the bike going on 2yrs. the previous owner hasnt got back to me about how old the battery is...and im hoping it just have to change the battery. will get her running tomorrow and test to see if its charging... hope its charging... if not $$$ RE: The Bus wont start! - Pommie - 02-07-2010 Have you tried recharging the battery. If you know its charged fully, attach a voltmeter to it, hit the start button and see what the voltage drops to. Anythin much less than 10v and its a goner RE: The Bus wont start! - Hutch99 - 02-07-2010 (02-07-2010, 09:01pm)Pommie Wrote: Have you tried recharging the battery. I think it was a warranty fix. RE: The Bus wont start! - Throwdown! - 07-07-2010 You can definately push start the bike. That was my only means of getting it going at one point - for about 4 months!!! RE: The Bus wont start! - Camel - 07-07-2010 I had two coppers help me push start my Kwakka 650 back when I was an apprentice. That episode helped balance out my opinion of the police. |
