24,000 km Service $$$ ?? - BusaBug - 27-10-2006
Hi,
Just wondering what I can expect to pay for the 24,000km service. Considering it's time to check the valves etc. One estimate so far was around $500 to $600 mark

Yep i reckon around that would be pretty much on the mark.
Price depends on if and how many shims need changing.
Your lucky it isnt a ducati or you could double that figure.

63.000 here and havent checked valves, heard many dont bother till after 100k. those that have checked mostly find them close or on the mark. <i></i>

Throwing your away checking the valve clearances at 24000. IMHO
But if it makes you feel better. Do it!
Spend it on Bling. Consider checking in another 24000 klms. (But they'll be within tolerances even then)

Thanks for the feedback guys, I'll look at it again in another 12,000 didn't really want to spend the money especially after all the dyno tuning just 6,000km ago.

yeah, I got my valves checked @ ~60k and they were fine. Seems to be the same story everywhere with the Bus' <i></i>

The cams, shims, valves and valve seats on the Busa's are some of the best wearing that I've personally seen. Honestly, leave then till you're over 70,000k's. Anyone that say's that they have to be checked is just trying to get your money.
The only reason to check them now would be if the bike is still under warranty. If something goes wrong in the top end (or really anywhere in the engine for that matter), suzuki have a reason to decling repair coverage.
