Brake pads - PostmanPete - 09-04-2010

Hi boys & girls,

I wanna run some sintered pads on the rear of my '05.

Does brand make any difference ie Nissen, EBC etc

Thanks

Learn to use the front brakes? Pi_tongue

I stopped using sintered pads on the rear anywhere other than the track as they never got warm enough. Tracking wear with vernier calipers, I worked out that I was going to wear through my rear rotor before I actually wore out the EBC HH pad.

I run Galfer when I do put a sintered pad in the rear though. Works better than the EBC when cool in my humble opinion.

With street use? Or just track?

By far the majority of that was street. I don't use the rear brake very much, even less with the EBC as it felt like a wood block unless it was hot from a run down a mountain or on the track. I have visible scoring on the rear rotor from the EBC pads even with frequent cleaning.

Other HHs will probably produce different results, but I'm happy with a standard kevlar pad on the rear even with mountain runs.
