Ram Air Mesh - jamesallan - 31-03-2010
Hi All,
I currently need to get my hands on replacement fairing mesh for the ram air intakes. (Gen 1 - 99model)
I have tried some of the stuff from the popular car stores however the guage of the material will not form the same and is a poor fit.
I would be happy with a set of pre-formed ones but will be happy with a sheet of the right stuff and I will do the rest.
This seemed and easy fix at the time but is now proving to be a pain.
Any direction to resolve this will be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Have you considered ordering the parts from the factory? Surely they (Suzuki) will have the correct gauge material.
Failing that I'll have a look after I get home from the hospital and have a look at it for you next week. Good therapy perhaps

Tried the OEM and they said no way, also tried a couple of wreckers and they said buy a nose cone fairing and we will supply them fitted to that.
Have a possibility of ordering a 3m x 1.5m panel but it is worth a bob or two, still not sure if it will be the correct spec.
Any help will do ?

Home from hospital yesterday thank God! lol
I have a spare nose cone up in the ceiling. I'll drag it down and have a look tomorrow bloke.

that could be all James needs. Your old inserts. I was going to try to fit mesh, but if your's fit, could be the way to go.

Grab some old fly screen and tack it on with bluetac James.
An old pair of fishnet stockings may do the trick as well.
The stock mesh lets everything through except the skeletons of the bugs anyway.
hehehe.

Come on now Ray how about the aesthetics mate, a bit of old flyscreen will look pretty much like and old piece of flyscreen wouldn't it!

Thanks Guys this is a big help, not fussed whether I get the insert complete with the mesh afixed or not - just need to get my hands on that damm mesh.
I really want to get this bike back to stock standard for looks and performance.
Appreciate your effort Rod and Max, let me know the $cost.
Ray, I think that you assume I would part with the fishnet's that I wear under my leathers when riding - no ! way ! * and I just don't trust blueytac. Cheers ya bugger you know the effort going in on this bike.

Ok i dug out my nose cone dont realy no why i replaced it with a new one only has verry light scratch on it .
So what is best way of getting mesh out without damage to mesh or nose i was thinking of a solder iron just to touch plastic a quick pull away of mesh .

Thats great news youre a
, not sure on the best way to release the mesh as mine where butchered on with bog mix or something like that from dodgy brothers incorporated. Perhaps the solder iron will work or even a sharp blade. Sounds like they are plasti moulded - would that be right ? I have used a mini heat blower for something similar.Sending PM

Yep you know how these things go, you start off doing one bit then it snow balls from there. I'm lucky to have a second bike to ride that doesn't warrant restoration hands on it - yet * lol.
