Police Radars - FalcoPerigri - 31-03-2010 Is there a place in the Public Domain where it is prominently displayed, the RULES which govern the USE of Radars, especially hand-held devices by the Police? I have been, in the past pulled over or fined for going 1kph over the limit! (for example) and I was so surprised that all I could do was say yes to everything and took it on the chin. Afterwards, I got to thinking thinking that perhaps THEY were WRONG! There must be situations such as not operating a radar on a downhill slope, or have it situated at a corner behind bushes and so on. This will be very interesting even if these rules are Prominently Displayed for all to see, then the Police then KNOW that we, the Public KNOW (and also that they know we know!). What about the ACCURACY/RELIABILITY of the handheld radars? Anyone out there with some legal-police experience? If so, please ILLUMINATE us! Gruntmax oh f*** you just started Ray as well ![]() RE: Police Radars - big kev - 31-03-2010 seeing that i have been on the end of more fines than i care to admitt to . There is 1 thing you can do when you get pulled over is you can ask the officer to supply the date of when the LIDAR or unit they used to check your speed with was last calibrated there must be a sticker , but i warn you now most cops really get the shits when you ask for this info , i have had some very abusive cops unleash on me for asking lol . i will find the info and post it but all speed units are supposed to be calibrated at certian intervals and i have been done by a few that were out of date and way off calibration, 1) ryde road . i was told i was doing 85 in a 70 zone . i did some probeing and i found the lidar had not been checked in 7 mths i appealed it the courts ordered the unit checked and it was out of calibration by at least 11 km's so my fine was dismissed dude to the fact that the unit was wrong , RE: Police Radars - GRUNTMAX - 31-03-2010 (31-03-2010, 07:44am)FalcoPerigri Wrote: Is there a place in the Public Domain where it is prominently displayed, the RULES which govern the USE of Radars, especially hand-held devices by the Police? Gday Rod, Enjoy the pretty pictures; http://www.australian-hayabusa-club.com/MyBB/showthread.php?tid=14610 Hand held, usually LASER, the only way you'll stop those buggers is a Laser Jammer.---enough said. 1 kmph over. Seems like your a victim of the Kevin Crudd Communist Australian/Chinese Labor Government's revenue collectors. "I was not speeding Officer". Maybe I was lucky to get away ALIVE! I would say the copper had a bit more on you than just the speeding of 1kmh there is no way 99% of cars on the road would have a speeedo 100% corect Thanks Grunty you allways look after me ![]() RE: Police Radars - Louwai - 31-03-2010 (31-03-2010, 11:29am)ROD Wrote: there is no way 99% of cars on the road would have a speeedo 100% corect Definately Rod. Car manufacturers will not gaurantee their speedo accuracy better than 10%. So if you get booked at a speed that's less that 10% over the limit, you can get your speedo checked & if it's out (the wrong way), you can get the ticket dismissed. RE: Police Radars - rb3221 - 31-03-2010 Qld now has a 0 kph tolerance on all speeding tickets. Sorry "SAI Global" Although, that will not tell him much about LASER as it refers to Pulse Doppler Radar which is subject to a lot of errors, in particular, pulse doppler radar reflector error. As far as the Laser goes, if they get ya, ya done, sure they should have a Calibration Certificate, but the Police Engineering Department can always fabricate a false/fraudulent one for the court. I am in fact worried about all the Police Officers suffering from Brain Tumors from their Pulse Doppler Radars though, & the Governments refusal to compensate them for this after retiring from the force. Microwave Radiation is an insidious thing. Remember, Bob Carr of the Communist Labor Government not only stuffed the CTP Green Slip Insurance up, he also stuffed the NSW Workers Compensation Act right up as well. Imagine being a retired Copper with a Brain Tumor from Pulse Doppler Radar and trying to prove that to an Insurance company, then the court when the insurance company refuses to coff up. As far as I know, Australian standards allow car speedo's to be 10% FAST - showing 100kph, actual speed 90kph. BUT the speedo's NOT allowed to be slow. Just my 2 cents (less 10%GST) |
