Backfire - Avante - 12-01-2010

Well i have aftermarket pipes and airfilter and the flap removed from the airbox on my 2000 busa, ive just had a pc3 fitted and it dyno tuned and the bike still seems to be backfiring. The tuner said no matter how he adjusted the fuel lean or rich he couldn't eliminate it . Its on decel at around 4500 rpm.

The bike hasnt been used alot in recent years and the ecu was originally flashed but i dont recall it backfiring this much so thats when i put the pc3 on it to try and rectify it. Any sugestions on what i can do to fix this problem.

RE: Backfire - Legend - 12-01-2010

Take the hose off the airbox that goes to the pair valve (front of motor, behind exhaust headers) block it with a marble or similar and put it back on.

That will fix it.

Leonard.

Tech discussions page 5 PAIR MOD confused, or as Legend said.Or see todays post's YOSHIMURA R 77 There is a pic of what to do.

RE: Backfire - fasterfaster - 12-01-2010

Probably more importantly if the pair wasn't blocked off whilst taking A/F readings and building your fuel map then your maps not worth a cracker as the Pair injects air into the exhaust giving lean (false) mixture readings. She will be running fatter than a pregnant dog BIATCH on heat Lol3
Personally I'd go back and ask for the map to be redone >>>>>>>>> nicely of course.

Avante previous tune would have been with a Yosh Box set up

so thats the hose im ment to block ? bit clueless when it comes to mechanics

RE: Backfire - fasterfaster - 12-01-2010

Don't block that one or she will run like a hairy goat lol
See the pipe in picture with the blank off on it ............. on the opposite corner (on the other side at rear about 12 mm diameter) there is a pipe that goes down to the Pair valve at the front of the motor. Stick a marble in that one. Then get you A/F redone .............. preferably by some one that knows what they are doing, as to be honest the A/F should not have been mapped with the Pair in operation. (Competition & Race use only )

RE: Backfire - bigfoot - 12-01-2010

mates bikes been doing the same thing on deceleration just changed from akrapovic to brocks alienhead has discovered he has a leak in header number 2 which is sucking air and causing backfire pair mod was done correctly backfire caused by poor fitment of exhaust gasket. maybe this isyour problem??

RE: Backfire - Avante - 13-01-2010

Had a chat with the dyno mob this morning and the apparently do block the air pipe during the dyno and unblock it afterwards, so my map will be fine. :)
