Backfire and rough running - MarkOz - 04-01-2010

Changing from third to fourth gear yesterday the bike gave a good backfire Wtfand I thought I could detect the occasional rough running of the motor. I`ve done about 3000 ks since changing spark plugs to NGKs and would I be right in suspecting the plugs or ignition coils as the posible cause. I`ve got the plugs out now, and am considering putting the original ones back in. Confused

Mark what number plugs are you running CR9E ? Have ran NGK for years without a prob but then that is not to say you can't get a dud. Was the backfire a one off occurence ? Cheers

Plugs are NGK CR9EIA-9 , changed them at 16 thou k , mates a car mechanic and he recomended them over denso as he has never had a failure with them as he has with denso.
Back fire was a one off, left turn on to motorway second to third gear change, right at the point when I chopped the throttle. Didnt do it again, but I rode straight home and I thought I could here the motor firing order miss occasionally.
Just did a resistance test on the ign coils, all good, the NGK plugs look ok, but as I kept the Denso plugs, I`ve just put them back in and will give the bike a run later today.
