Planning a week ride in Victoria - BikerBoy - 30-12-2009
I've got a friend coming over from Brazil next April/May and I'm planning a ride throughout Victoria for the week and want to know of any recommendations for accomodation and roads etc...that anyone may have.
The general planned route is;
Melbourne > Sorrento > Ferry accross to Queenscliff > GOR through to the Otways > Colac > Ballarat > Broadford > Healsville > Mansfield > Mt Bulla > Mt Hotham > Sale > Inverloch > Philip Island and back into Melbourne.
If anyone has got any suggestions or anything to help me plan this,
or even if you want to come along let me know.

If I am not working I'll come for a spin. GOR, Otways, Colac, Ballarat etc. As the time gets closer will let you know.

You've probably already thought of it, but you can't go to Healsville without doing the black spur and reefton spur. Personally I would make this a day trip from your base in Melbourne so that you can do the loop at least twice. Try to plan in for an early morning, weekend run otherwise you will have to battle with the logging trucks. Also, I prefer to go up the Reefton and down the black. Seems to suit the bigger more powerful bikes. But hey, just my opinion! Might join you if I can swing it.

Thanks for the tip about up the reefton and down the black. Closer to the time I'll be able to post exact dates of the areas we will be in, so come along if you can.
