K8 & K9 colour options - Huls - 26-07-2009
I'm aware that the colours changed between the K8 & K9 models.
My first question relates to whether the black option remained the same. The reason I ask is that my recent purchase is supposedly a black K9 model. The compliance plate indicates the bike was manufactured in Aug 2008. I'm also aware that Suzuki has to manufacture the bike prior to release and sometimes a new 2009 model will be manufactured in 2008. Noramly you can tell simply becuase the colours change each model year. I was told by the dealer that the black K8 was a slightly different colour scheme. Does anyone know and can you post some pics of black K8 vs K9. (I don't have any pics of mine yet). Are there any other ways to tell (serial no's etc)
The second question is are there any differences between the K8 & K9 (apart from colour).
Part of the reason I ask is just to confirm what model I actually have and also I'm looking to purchased a Power Commander, and see that there is a model PCV for 2009 model bikes, whereas the PC3 is for 2008 models and earlier.

Cant help you on the colour thing but the PCV is fine for both K8 and K9. Both bikes are identical in ECU and components.

Hi Huls,
Well all I can say is that if your bike is a High Gloss Black well you definately have the 09 which was definately the better colour scheme in the black, the 08 was more of a charcoal grey and black.

As far as I know there is no difference between the 2 bikes but I'm not 100% sure on that I have read where a PCIII fits both 08/09 but not sure about the PCV have also read that they are only available for the 09 not sure why but someone on here will no for sure I would suspect.

Mine is a high gloss black same as your pic, so I must have the K9.
Still wouldn't mind seeing a pic of the black K8 if anyone has one.

Yep its a k8 the colours are reversed the k8 is mainly grey with blk
k9 is mainly blk with grey

I have always believed the models change in September ie: an 08/08 would be a K8 & an 09/08 is a K9
My 99er is 08/99 and being copper is definately a 99 X model
My K9 is plated 09/08 & is Gold Black so is Definately a K9 because it is Gold/Black also have a look at your service manual that came with the bike as mine has K9 written on the back left hand bottom corner.
I could be wrong but would guess an 08/08 is a K8

No. Manual has K9 in bottom left corner. Must definetley be K9 then.

No. Manual has K9 in bottom left corner. Must definetley be K9 then.

Ok not to hijack the thread but were getting close to the time of k'10 release, am really wondering what colors they might come in, if something great I might for the first time be tempted to buy a new model whilst retaining my Copper '99. So any rumours around?

That's a good question Volvi I was only doing a google search the other day and couldn't find much but I did find this picture when searched under 2010 Busa.

As discussed earlier, the K8 colours are Candy Max Orange/Pearl Nebular Black, Metallic Phantom Gray/Pearl Nebular Black, Candy Indy Blue/Pearl Nebular Black. In all cases the 1st colour listed is the dominant colour. i.e. tank and main fairing. The Blue/Black bike has gold wheels, the others all have black.
The K8 Limited model is Pearl Mirage White/Metallic Mistic Silver and black wheels.
The K9 colours are Gold/Black, Pearl Nebular Black/Metallic Phantom Gray, Bright White/Metallic Mistic Silver. There is a Gray/Silver model available overseas but we didn't get it in OZ.
The K9 White bike is much much brighter than the K8 which is a creamy colour with red flashes. The K9 also has blue flashes and silver wheels.
I would really like to see the return of Red/Black and Blue/Silver colour options for K10.
