Well, here is my mobile phone mounting.

I took one geniune Nokia Car Kit I had in the garage, some cable ties and velcro.

The phone cradle is mounted to the triple clamp firstly with velcro and to ensure it doesn't vibrated loose, a cable tie is used to hold it firmly onto the velcro. I haven't had any problems with it coming loose.

For water proofing, I slip an appropriately sized plastic bag over it and then an elastic band is slipped over the bag to hold the plastic bag around the phone cradle.

In the following photo, you can see the control box for the phone on top of the air-intake tube.

I have been using velcro for years, put the flufy side on the back of the phone, and the prickly side on the triple clamp.
I wear a hands free headset and can take calls and hear claerly up till around 160, then the other end hears the wind over my voice.

thanks heaps for the posts - why didnt i think of velcro ? Its the simple ideas that work the best - i am been a maintenance fitter too long - i was thinking to elaborate rather than going back to basics ...

thanks again :)

will post pics later when i have done the job ..
