Heated Grips? - TempOzzy - 04-06-2009
I'm considering fitting heated grips to my Gen2 but am unsure if they're as good as they sound (I've never used them before).I also am unsure what the bar diameter of the busa is once the original grips are removed.
I'm keen to hear any opinions of them, especially whats good and bad, fitting problems, or if they are worth having at all.

Do a search mate there is plenty of talk about heated grips. They are the best thing you will ever fit to your bike.

Recommended you get them connected up to the ignition and not the battery.

I did a search before starting this thread and didn't even find the thread you posted last August about them (that only showed up after I started this thread). After reading that it has failed to leave me feeling much more informed.
Blackzook, where did you end up connecting your grips to a 12V source?

I had a set on a previous bike which shall remain nameless but loved the grips they were great ,Go for it mate !!

Sorry mate thought it would b easy to find. I just forget where I hooked em up to but will get back to you. They must be connected to ignition so they dont flatten the battery.
To give you an idea how good they are I ride with summer weight gloves because I have a couple fo fingers missing and hate the feel of thick glove that get in the way. Last year we did a ride in the southwest of WA and it was well in the minus, three of us all wearing similar gear, the other two were freezing and I was cold but comfortable with the heated grips. Its amazing how much they help.
Ill check out the wiring and post up soon.

We live in freezing Canberra. They area must. I rode all ofmlast winter with summer gloves - easy on my arthritis and kept my hands warm. A must have. Oxfords.

Max is typing with his winter gloves on again.
I still have a set of oxfords brand new in the box. Probably time to dig them out again, and that ride down WA REDEFINED cold! Still reckon Simmo and I should have rolled you for the grips. Would have taken a while to find the body.

Hi,
Well I think the heated gloves are the go!! Where I live and ride it's bloody cold and their for only take my Busa out when it's fine. But the wind is always cold. So with heated gloves I don't have any cold fingers tips any more. Heated grips didn't warm the back of my hand and finger tips, with the wind blowing over the top of my glove they still got cold, but not as cold as they would with no heated grips. So I tried the glove and just great. three settings high med low. My only problem is the cable that you run under your fuel tank each side and it has to be long enough so you can plug your other glove in.
I have the Warm & Safe Ultimate Carbon Heated Gloves that you can still feel the grip.
Ok that's my two bit's.

Definately go with the oxford heated grips. The heating is in the grip itself and they are a bit thicker than a normal grip which I find really good (no sore hands). I connected mine straight to the battery and have left them on several times by accident but the cut out built into the unit actually works and stops your battery from going flat :-)
Biggest problem I found was getting the old grips off....then you have to do a bit of work with the scalpel to get the new ones on but with a bit of patience no probs!
