Spark Plugs - Pommie - 31-05-2009

I just put some Iridium plugs in the old girl just because I didnt know how old the others were. Bikes done 60K now and there were iridiums in there already so not originals obviously. question is how often would you change them ? Dont ride particularly hard but dont hang around either.

RE: Spark Plugs - DjPete - 31-05-2009

im curious too.
I reckon every 60,000.
!
They should be 100,000 plugs shouldn't they.

If not I think I'm due.
Look like a bastard to get at too?
Or just lift the tank?

Just found this link which advises changing standard plugs at 12000km's

http://www.hyp4r.com/hayabusa/serviceschedule.htm

But no mention of Iridiums

RE: Spark Plugs - BUSGO - 01-06-2009

The change schedule on Iridiums is at 25k I think.
I have just hit that mileage and the bike is purring along very smoothly.
I might buy a set and just have them handy in case I need to swap em over.

RE: Spark Plugs - busakid08 - 01-06-2009

I change mine every 20,000 - just an easy number to remember and do all the other servicing as well as a matter of course ie valve clearance etc plus change oil every 4k ..or so

RE: Spark Plugs - 2wheelfreak - 01-06-2009

Changed mine at 46000, they looked old, body coroded & tips black as.
Easy to get to, lift the tank, remove the airbox & pull the coil pack straight up & off.

I went to an NGK twin electrode copper over iridium as a mate recommended them & he used to spanner on Yamaha Austria WSBK, so they can't be too bad.

Baby's been purring away beautifully on them too I must say!

Geez u guys are fussy.
