The first hayabusa was released in 1999 and it was only after the release of a completely new revamped model in 2007 (called 2008 model) that the term GEN1 & GEN2 came into being to distinguish between the models. GEN refers to GENERATION hence GEN1 & GEN2. Hope its now clear to you.

The new model came in 2008.

2007 is still gen1.

Now i wonder how long they will run with the gen2 model look for
before they change...
Rekon another 8 years fellas?
I think not...

RE: Scuse my ignorance - GRUNTMAX - 15-05-2009

Gen 1 has 20mm piston pins. Gen 2 has 18mm piston pins & 2mm longer crankshaft stroke to increase capacity from 1299cc to 1340cc.
Gen 1 has 4 injectors. Gen 2 has 8 injectors (small ones specially designed to stop you using RC Low Impedence (Peak & Hold) injectors.--ECU is different.
Rear subframe is wider on Gen 2.
Brake calipers are different on Gen 2.
Dash is different.
Gen 1 42mm throttle bodies. Gen 2 44mm throttle bodies. Airbox/Cleaner.
Fairing fitting is better on Gen 1---easier on n off.
Wheel design different. etc etc etc.

All done by the Japs especially so aftermarket manufacturers are kept busy.
Long live the Japanese Whaling Industry !
