Noisey Gear Box - auzzyss - 14-04-2009

Hi people... Are the busa's gearbox a naturaly noisey box on idle in neutral. My is making a rumbling sound on idle in neutral when the clutch basket is engaged. When i pull the clutch in.. the noise goes away. Wtf So im assuming that its in the gearbag.... somewhere.

I can even hear it stopped at the traffic lights in neutal with cars whizzing by..

Is there a faulty gearbox problem with the busa??

Its the in the clutch basket, its the back torque converter
Don't worry its comes standard with all Busa's, you can weld it up for the drags. do a search on BLT

Hmmm not too sure on that.. My old TL1000 has a back torque limiter in it aswell and it never made a rumbling sound even while in neutral..

I dont know wot to think about it?!?

RE: Noisey Gear Box - auzzyss - 15-04-2009

The rumbling sound is like a dead bearing/s rumble.. just to clarify.. :)

Pull the clutch cover off and look, some have had a loose bolt issue at the springs, retaining studs have come loose.
BTL is noisy, rattles, not rumble,

If it is a gen II model, there is a new service bulletin that PAN just posted re loose clutch spring retainer bolts.
Same may happen to a Gen 1 model if the clutch has been apart and locktite not put back on the threads.
