Australia2

hubs and i went too victoria today too have a a peek at the places the where the fires ruined..

i think we wanted to just know ourselves what had happened,
as on another thread you may have read we took good clothing .blankets and toiletries too shepparton
which was the only place open for us..(rang so many places..as in where can we bring the goods too)

we by accident ended up in flowerdale..the worst hit..

i nearly had an "off" gawking and crying...

a house here and the neighbours gone...

we turned around at flowerdale itself...because of signs/..

we respected that..

donated to local wildlife appeal while there

RE: 848.3 kms - Missy_Moo - 02-03-2009

awesome ride,

But sad scenery...

I drove through it a few days after on my long haul trip in 3 days with a stressing girlfriend and her 2 boarder collies... You could just see how scorched, glazed the ground was left and the distance it fireballed across....

RE: 848.3 kms - cheeky - 02-03-2009

you cannot describe it..

we were riding along through hills, then over alot of bends and twisties.we topped a curve

it all changed..

it was surreal'

just horrible.

i just after 5 km started to cry.seeing where homes were

helmet fogged up

RE: 848.3 kms - Madmax - 04-03-2009

We rode through some of it on the way down to the Supers. Michelle, my mate on the back, was crying too as we rode through it, and that was on the Hume. Kilmore and Flowerdale turnoffs?? Just shocking. These poor people will now have to face autumn and winter in tents and caravans. If only there was more we could do than just throw money.
