What is it about Christmas - Heidi1 - 18-12-2008 I have a confession, lately I've been seeing other clubs. These other clubs don't f*** around with bashing cops every opportunity they get, calling each other gays, being racist, putting each other down and generally being total heroes behind the safety of a keyboard. I think I'm out for a while. The majority of the club is fabulous and I learn something new every time, but I need a break from the wankers. I'll see you all after Christmas. Stay safe. HEIDI xxx RE: What is it about Christmas - pan - 18-12-2008 Those few words sum up how many of us have been feeling. Take care and ride safely H. Let us know if you're up around Sydney... ![]() Merry Christmas RE: What is it about Christmas - BUSGO - 18-12-2008 Too true Heidi. Seems the pressure builds up around this time every year. Familiarity breeds contempt - as the old saying goes, I suppose. RE: What is it about Christmas - Madmax - 18-12-2008 I am a member of another board here in Canberra where mindless attacks on the Police are just not tolerated. The very first telephone call people make when they are in trouble and need help is invariably to the coppers. This is a board that is about motorcyclists, motorcycling and having a good time. I find it very distasteful to have members rabbitting on about how slack or corrupt the plod are. It breads nothing good and may alter law abiding younger riders perception of just who the good guys are. There is a very old saying from the inside "If you can't do the time, don't do the crime." This verbal jewel from crims. I have few doubts that most of us speed from time to time. When and if I'm detected by the plod, I cop it sweet. I don't call the Police a mob of nasty dirty names because I got caught. I teach my kids that any uniformed copper is a person of immediate assistance and help if they find themselves in need of help. I acknowledge that there are bad coppers out there, we have them through every strata of our society. They get caught, they get gaoled or sacked and certainly get outed by the press who love stories of corrupt coppers. It has taken Royal Commissions to get rid of some of the dirtier upper ranks plod, butr they do get their just deserts eventually. I work for the AFP, but I am not a Policeman. I ask that this constant drivel attacking the Police be suspended or terminated forthwith. I come here to talk bikes and bike riding and having fun doing what we do with bikes, not listening to a very few constantly bemoaning their dislike of the plod. The discussion has become unhealthy and unwholesome and is tending to make us all look more than a little foolish for entertaining it. Max ![]() ![]() ![]() RE: What is it about Christmas - Volvi - 18-12-2008 not sure what brought this on as I dont read every thread there is to read, so am only presuming the 'vic cops' thread. If thats the case, Heidi as admin you can call it a day with that thread and lock it or delete it whatever you see fit as admin and I assure you your fellow admins will back you up. We trust your judgment. No you shouldnt have to remove yourself from the fray, just put the buggers in order. Im sorry I didnt pick up on it but as I said there are many threads I dont follow or bother to read. RE: What is it about Christmas - SteveV - 18-12-2008 Hey Heidi, It would be a real shame to loose somebody with enough integrity to want to leave a group because of his, justified in my view, concerns about opinions expressed by a verity of robust individuals. I’m sure I don’t condone much the same views as you, but I haven’t expressed my opinions in those threads because it merely enflames the situation. I think the best solution is to generally allow these threads to sink to the bottom and disappear through lack of interest or moved to the "Not Representational of the Views of the Members" section, to be censored only in the exception of outright hostility. Although your view has been expressed to me by others as well I was generally of the opinion that this site consisted of fairly light hearted Australian banter, we have rightly never been regarded by the rest of the world for our refinements ;-) I’ve seen plenty of other sites promoting hatred and ignorance that would leave us for dead. Merry Christmas regardless of what you decide. RE: What is it about Christmas - simmo - 18-12-2008 You hit the nail on the head Max, whats happens when it all gets out of control call the man in blue Quote: I teach my kids that any uniformed copper is a person of immediate assistance and help if they find themselves in need of help. You go holding up shops etc with guns of knifes, just except the fact that you may die doing so. Quote:"If you can't do the time, don't do the crime." RE: What is it about Christmas - Mutha - 18-12-2008 Have a great Christmas Heidi, see you next year ![]() RE: What is it about Christmas - Missy_Moo - 18-12-2008 Merry Christmas Heidi, enjoy the break and see you again soon. RE: What is it about Christmas - 1hotbusa - 18-12-2008 Hi there, We agree with your concerns. We understand and respect your decision. When a long term member of the forum decides that this is a course of action that needs to be taken, then we as forum members need to take a good long hard look at ourselves and in what we say and do. We do hope that you will not be a stranger, whether it be on or off the board. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Look after yourself.
